I used the search but could not find a similar problem.

When I touch on the screen to enter my PIN-conde the screen instantly turns off. It then turns on again after a few seconds but will turn off again as soon as i touch the screen. Phone worked fine when I received it for about 2-3hours. Then I opened the browser for the first time, and whenever I touched on the screen to start using the browser the app minimized. Touch screen was turning fine otherwise, except that i couldn't browse apps in the jolla store (as soon as I would choose a category jolla store would close). I thought maybe a restart would solve the problem but now I can't even my PIN-code. And because my old phone used regular SIM and cannot handle micro-SIM I can't even use my SIM in my old phone anymore and I'm basically without phone. Very annoying issue.

I also tried to take the battery out and put it back in with no result - the screen still turns off as soon as I try to enter the PIN-code.

Any experience with this problem?

Thanks'n'Cheers

Edit: Right after unpacking I updated the OS of the phone, Problems started about one hour after the update.

Edit2: When I put off the other half and put it back on, the app of the other half will open and the touch screen will let me slide and scroll, but again, as soon as I tap on something to chose/open it the screen goes black.

Is there any possibility to reset the phone to factory settings without using the touchscreen (i.e. press all the buttons simultaniously for 5seconds) or something?

If you can bypass the PIN query, you can try doing a factory reset (settings -> system -> Reset device). Once you've resetted, connect to WLAN and update the software to latest version (settings -> system -> about product -> (pulley menu) check for updates. Please note that you have to have Jolla account set up in the phone before you can download updates (settings -> Accounts)

I updated the phone before it started bugging. And because I cannot enter anything (touchscreen does not register any inputs) it is impossible to bypass the pin query. Seems like my phone is FUBAR??

You probably should convert this answer into a comment on the question instead.

But when you updated, you went from one version to another? Did you actually revert to factory settings? Before doing that, make a backup of the phone over ssh (if you have already enabled developer mode that is, otherwise that is probably difficult if you can't use the screen). If factory settings doesn't fix it, yes something is probably wrong hardware wise.

BTW: Check that your power button on the side is not stuck in pressed state or is glitching or something.

Alright, I got in contact with the jolla support team and they were able to solve my prolem.

In case you bricked your jolla phone to the point that it won't boot anymore or you can not start you're phone for another software-related reason you have to take the SIM out of your phone and switch it on while holding the volume down button pressed. Then you can connect it to a computer via USB and use Telnet to reset your phone back to factory settings.

Here's a detailed instruction how to do it with a Windows PC: https://jolla.zendesk.com/attachments/token/MVZkpw4ewKaXewmltHgIj4qks/?name=Recovery+Mode+on+Windows+%28WIN+7%29+v+4.pdf
