Wanted gesture: swipe down from outside = lock phone / close app

Thumb held sideways (= smaller covered surface)

interpreted gesture: show pulley menu

20140612 update: this seems to be worse since 1.0.7.16 - I've had situations were this happend a lot of times even with clear, slow, precise gestures.

Wanted gesture: swipe down from outside = lock phone / close app

finger moved too fast

interpreted gesture: show pulley menu

Wanted gesture: swipe up from outside = show notification area

finger moved too fast or solar flares

interpreted gesture: scroll inside launcher

Wanted gesture: swipe down for pully menu

moving finger slowly at constant speed from top to bottom, sometime there is kind of a hickup (maybe connected to the vibration - which I like), it jumps over the last entry and the menu stays open with cursor on empty row. General feeling of pulley menu is a bit like tar...

Wanted gesture: swipe up or down in Launcher

interpreted gesture: start an app

20140721 update

Since the update to 1.0.8.19 I get the strangest results in the browser mainly: tap on a link and another one gets selected that is literally 2cm away on the screen. Sorry, that phone gets worse and worse and I am almost done with it.

I had the same problems in the beginning but after a few days my finger "learned" to do it properly

ozzi, yes same here too. After a bit more practise things go better. But now and then it still happens that top-to-bottom swipe surprises, and when it happens it is usually not a single occurrance. It becomes the pulley menu instead of closing/lock phone gesture. It also happens now and then that the double-tap doesn't work. It feels then as if it is busy doing something else. One has to wait a couple of seconds, then double-tag again and it works.

Difficult to describe a common or typical scenario when it goes wrong, but it definetly does sometimes.

Are you sure this is a real problem and not you not being precise enough?? I mean can you reproduce this by holding the phone with one hand and doing the gestures precisely with the other?

It happens with phone in one hand and doing gestures with the thumb, happens with phone in one hand and doing gestures with index finger of the other hand. It does not happen everytime but when it happens it can be reproduced. Never ever have such problems with devices from the fruit company, so I still hope it's not my personal inability ;-)

@hardcodes.de

I get some of them when i do stuff with my thumb but thats most likely a reach problem (the phone is kind of hard to use one handed due to size).

The thing is you cannot test for the "bug" you describe unless you have something like a robot to repeatedly do the gestures and log the results.

Another issue that I have is that when long-pressing to open context menu, when the menu opens a button in the menu is pressed even though I havent pressed anything.

E.g. I hold finger on item, context menu opens, i havent pressed any button still holding finger but the phone thinks I pressed delete on the context menu. I need to quickly tap "undelete" remorse button before the item gets removed.

Many times almost had accidental deletions due to this bug.
