3G video call
Any plans for “plain” 3G videocall support? It's a _basic_ feature, usually costs same as a voice call with most operators and I used it quite a lot.

Yeah, disappointed here too that Jolla still doesn't support this standard feature.
And for those suggesting the use of Skype and other video chat apps - you still need to pay for the data that these clients consume. And in many countries, 3g video calling is cheaper than the data plans that would be required for these video chat app.
Like others have mentioned here, 3g video calls also offer more privacy.
Would like to see Jolla support this ,used It on other phones

Do phones still come with that? That's a serious question. I haven't seen it lately since it seems everyone is supposed to use skype/hangouts/facetime instead.
Swl ( 2014-05-05 23:54:35 +0200 )editOfc. It is a basic feature. Every higher class OS I know except for the MeeGo OS'es support it. I'm not saying I'd have anything against any other feature like google video call, integrated skype (even voice+messaging only), etc.
clouseau ( 2014-05-06 01:38:08 +0200 )editI think its a rarely used feature, It does use CS (Circuit switched) data and is more expensive than a normal voice call. The way to do video calls is using one of the OTT offers, e.g. skype, Line, whatever, over IP. It's cheaper and the quality is better. 3G CS video: the standardized way for video calls, but only "nice to have", low prio, imo.
Stefanix ( 2014-05-06 04:29:21 +0200 )editMany people feel the same with MMS, that it is an obsolete feature not much needed. However, both MMS and CS video call are standard ETSI features and should be implemented. Also, many videocall-over-IP solutions are proprietary and of questionable safety/integrity, like Skype for example. I do not use those if I can avoid it
juiceme ( 2014-05-06 08:36:11 +0200 )edittrue. i just hadnt seen the feature in either my iPhone or my Lumia 620. so i actually didn't know it still wad implemented in new phones.
