When mail is put in the deleted items folder ... there is no quick way to empty the deleted items folder ... each e-mail has to be separately highlighted yet again, and then deleted a second time to get rid of it.

It really needs a bulk selection option.

And that would be perfect with "mark as (un)read", "delete", etc... actions in the pull down menu

Do you have the latest OS version? In the pulley menu, choose Select emails, then in the selection view choose "Select all" from the pulley menu, and then tap the trash icon.

I know this is not really a very fast way to empty the trash, but it's faster than picking all the emails one by one...

Edit: On quickly emptying the trash, there's this (quite old) question. The bulk-selection introduced in 1.0.4.20 makes the task easier, but a quick "empty trash" function would still be good to have.

I was missing that. By the way, a "mark all as (un)read" would be handy.

I agree that there could be more things to do with selected emails than delete and move, namely, mark as (un)read. (I think there's no need to have a separate "mark all as read" command if you can choose "select all" and then "mark as read".)
