I think it would be interesting to know where Jolla has no problem working with 4G/LTE. Please make sure that you meet all the conditions: USIM card, active LTE plan, etc.

Also make sure that your APN settings are correct for the LTE plan. Some network operators have different APN settings for LTE plans.

To check/edit APN go to Settings | System | Connectivity - Mobile Network. There long tap on the Internet provider service name (it may be as simple as "Internet" or maybe your mobile operator's name) and from menu select Edit. The image below shows the effect of long tap on the Internet provider service (polish language version):

Change APN settings

Silly question: does 4G appear when available?

@magullo, yes it does.

As together we've already gathered >200 LTE networks for Jolla since January, could those be either copied here, or link @nthn 's answer to the question? (now it seems we're doing a same job twice). Few of the longer list's networks might need an APN (Access Point Name) fix, Jolla will surely add those in the future updates.

simo ( 2014-06-12 11:52:19 +0200 )edit

Yes, please post your APN settings which are worknig for you and mention also your subscription type, some operators have different settings for prepaid/postpaid/4g/non-4G. Like said, that should help Jolla update their default settings.

Please describe in the description how to edit APN settings since it's not obvious.

...but note that without a Jolla-compatible 3G frequency operator in Canada, there are some problems with fallback: https://together.jolla.com/question/45765/permit-simultaneous-lte-and-2g-connection-for-places-where-3g-frequency-is-not-accessible/

I have CBB (Denmark) which uses Telenors network.

According to my data plan, sim card and connection area chart I should have 4G, however my phone only connects to 3G. And yes my phone is updated to 1.0.7.16 and is set up prefer 4G.

I'm in contact with my carrier to found out the root of the problem.

SOLVED: Apparently I have to pay extra for 4G.

The most common reason is the service provider hasn't enabled 4G for your subscription, sometimes they may require you to get a new physical card. Good luck with CBB! :)

Does it actually show 4G? Where did you test it? I am in Prague and so far I can't get 4G. csd tool shows no 4G signal at all.

clau ( 2014-06-16 12:03:33 +0200 )edit

Yes, it does. Tested at Ruzyne Airport area, Prague centre and Dejvice - Prague 6. Check out the coverage map at http://www.o2.cz/osobni/en/199436-mapa_pokryti_a_prodejen/ and http://www.o2.cz/osobni/en/197134-casto_kladene_otazky/319419-x01.html .

cocovina ( 2014-06-16 13:54:39 +0200 )edit

I've asked O2 about it, and they've sold me a uSIM card replacement for 99 CZK, however I still don't get 4G. csd tool still doesn't show any 4G signal. According to the map I should have 4G, however even with the uSIM in a Lumia 920 LTE I just get "H", which is HSDPA / 3.5G. I'll have to check with them again, as it seems there's something wrong on their side. Maybe it matters that I use a prepaid uSIM?

clau ( 2014-06-16 16:09:34 +0200 )edit

LTE should work with prepaid SIMs also in my private view. But I am not 100% sure. I recomend to visit O2 factory shop and do not leave until they do not fixed it.

cocovina ( 2014-06-16 16:18:55 +0200 )edit

OK, I went back to O2 and they finally activated 4G. Thanks cocovina.

Contry: Sweden Operator: Tele2 4G/lte NOT working for me. I have verified with Tele2 that I have 4G. Trying this now in central Göteborg. Using access point: 4g.tele2.se . Prefer 4G. Choose network automatically. (Cannot choose manually! When trying I get a list of two highlighted alternatives: Tele2Comviq and 24024. The latter is 2G if I understand correctly. Choosing the first one I just got Oops connection problem).

UPDATE: By the way "spikk" has reported Tele2 SE working in previous comments on this topic. I recommend checking using an different manufacturer device using the same card.

So phone does not register to tele2 4G network at all? Meaning you don't get a "4G" indicator and can't make calls/send sms? I would've insisted your subsription is not 4G enabled but you did say you already checked :) Does the same card work on some othe 4G device?

Without any better ideas try disabling the data connections (settings > system > mobile network) and then search manually for mobile networks (settings > system > mobile network > tap "select network automatically" to launch network scan)
