[Improvement] Why removed call answering/rejecting options with 1.0.7.16 update? Want it back.

Before the 1.0.7.16 update there are 3 options for "not answering a call" (the red side): Sound off, Reply with SMS, Dismiss call. Now I have only one: Ignore, and what this does is simply to turn off the sound. How can I get it fixed? I want it the way it was! Pretty please! Edit: Sorry, now I read through the release notes again and realized I obviously misunderstood this on first time reading the notes: "Quickly mute an incoming call simply by pulling up, reply and reject options are now shown after muting". So it's supposed to do this, but I really really don't like the new solution. I'd like to be able to dismiss a call immediately or reply with SMS, instead of now I need 2 steps to do it. Why has it been changed?? What was the point of this change??

I was happily using all the options for rejecting a call (swipe up red side) very often. This change is more work and backwards!

EDIT: I'd like zlatko's suggestion in the comment further down this page: "Flip device screen down to mute the call. Reject instead of Ignore in the pulley menu". Makes a lot more sense!

16.07.2014 EDIT: The described "wrong" behaviour of call UI still persists in 1.0.8.19

Is it possible to mute the phone / cancelling a phone call on putting the screen on a table just like it was possible with n900 ?

@mvdm, I don't know how it worked with N900, never owned one. All I know is I was happily using all the options for rejecting a call (swipe up red side) very often. When someone called me at work and I was busy, I'd dismiss the call directly, or chose reply with SMS for the important ones. And when an annoying seller called I'd mute the call (without cutting it). And now I can only mute it first (ignore) and then choose what to do about the call. This function change is more work and doesn't make sense!

As I have learnt from comments to another suggestion, a lot of users seem to be afraid of accidentally selecting the wrong option from the pulley menu, so this might be the reason why the previous options have been replaced with a single menu item. I still don't get this argumentation, though. IMHO if a menu is not desired to have more than one menu item, it is obviously abused. If it is not a menu, don't use a menu.

Let us go back to the older version. Hate this new setup.

Buttons, eww! I thought Sailfish OS wanted to get rid of last century's UI paradigms where possible. ;)

First you have to mute the phone call Then you can shutdown the call in the same way that you use to mute the call.

Maybe, if lots of person will vote to have the mute and shutdown option directly in the bottom "menu" Jolla will put it in the next update

Uh, thank you, but I know how. My question is WHY they made this backwards change when it must be more desirable to be able to do such simple actions directly instead of "first this then that". And my request is to put it BACK the way it was, not something "new for the next update".

I perfectly agree with you, I hope that lots of people will vote this proposal so Jolla will make our desire real

If you want it back, you should draw up a vote with equal chances for both, denying a change as well as requesting a change. Then it would be possible to work out whether the interest of the majority is a quick and sure silencing of incoming calls not appropriate right that moment (remember sitting in-between an audience and having forgotten to silence your phone in advance) or allowing for a longer action until the phone is silenced but being able to select the silencing options from a menu within the same step.

I prefer the quick silencing!

@jgr, I'm not saying not to be able to mute the sound. This option was always there before and should be there absolutely. I'm saying to keep the other options directly accessible like it was before this update. And if you want the other alternative to vote on, it's already right here !! And with 15 votes it was apparently enough to compel the developer to spend the time on changing it without possibility to personalize that function, while they (the devs) could've used the time to fix other more interesting issues such as showing the caller number on call log... Bottom line, I never experienced it was difficult or slightly more time-consuming to mute it before since it was the first option in the red menu!

@spacenewt: The difference is, whether you just pull up without even looking onto the display and have muted the phone or whether you have to carefully adjust your pull to exactly the option you want.

Due to the now different behavior, the situation is anew. A poll should be set-up properly if it is about to work out what the majority wants. From the other question the developers may simply have realized that there is a need for improvement. There is no sense in now just casting enough votes to make the developers changing this feature back to the original state -- only to have then the rage going the other way round: "I want .... back!"

I want a "pull down to answer" and "pull up to dismiss" call handling behaviour in phone application. Silence/mute is to be done via "flip face down" gesture.

I like current behaviour with two stage call reject handling - "pull up to mute" then "press button to dismiss". Let it stay.

With Update10 (!hopefully!)coming next week and introducing "flip to silence" - it is the right time to rekindle this discussion about Jolla returning back to its senses in UI simplicity and logic and bringing back the simple "pull up to dismiss" in phone app. Will add too answers as a poll below, please vote.
