Posted this in the github: https://github.com/sailfishos/sailfish-browser/issues/161

EDIT4: Seems to be fixed after deleting ~/.mozilla -directory (to remove Firefox Adblock addon that I installed a while ago)

EDIT3: on WLAN the delay is not there. Repro with Mobile data.

EDIT2: Reproduced the stock Browser with OS v. 1.0.8.19

EDIT: This is with the stock browser, OS v. 1.0.7.16

Don't know how else to describe it, but the steps to reproduce it pretty consistently:

Close the browser
Open a link from another application (android FB or native Mail)
Observe the "loading" status bar, it is frozen at some position for a very long time (like 10 seconds)

Sometimes a reload helps, but most of the time I just need to wait for the problem to timeout or something.

Is this on the stock browser version? I have noticed similar lagging, but only after installing the nightly build from Openrepos.

This happens to me on the stock browser as well.

Also, just noticed, that I seem to be able to reproduce a similar "lag" when doing the "Open in a new Tab" via a long press.

Did you try pressing "X" while it is still loading (and nothing happens)? For me this in the most cases helps displaying the page...

Agree with this. There's also another start up related bug with the Browser (also stock / unmodified). Sometimes, if the first action you perform after launching the browser is pressing the menu / tab button, it will immediately crash and close. Happens about 10% of the time I launch it, I'd say. Though once it does it, it usually won't stop doing it until the phone is rebooted. Never happened before 1.08 update.

Here too, if I press the tabs-button or swipe from edge to minimize browser BEFORE it starts to load page my browser crashes.

Example, I open link from tweetian and immediately come back to tweetian. When I want to see that lunk later, browser is not open anymore.

Example 2. I opened browser with just rebooted phone and pressed immediately tabs-button to be able to write url -> browser crashed.

On my browser helps if I try to scroll down/up, then the page apears. So its defenetly problem at displaying and not on downloading.

for me it does not help.. the browser sometimes is just "white" - nothing happens if I try to scroll. Only on the "first load" though.

seems to be worse when mobile, as in "moving around".

After removing the ~/.mozilla -directory (instructions found here. My intention was to remove AdBlock extension that I installed way back when..) this "slow first load" seems to be faster. Tomorrow I again travel to Espoo, will see on the railroad how it behaves in a real-life -situation.

UPDATE1: At least at home, on Sonera's 4G-network the 5-10 second delay is not there.

Update2: Seem that the add-on was the culprit here. I guess a fresh install could be in order, who knows what else is a-jar in my Sailboat :D

From what I can see, this issue has been fixed in 1.1.0.39. Sometimes it still takes a couple of seconds to start loading the page, but nowhere near what it used to be.
