First I need to mention that I'm using CyanogenMod 10.2.1 (fresh install) on a Nexus 4 (Android 4.3.1) and I'm aware that the Launcher wasn't made to be used with this mod. Still I thought it is worth to mention it.

The problem is that the Android 'Action Buttons' won't dissapear in Launcher (see pictures). The upper status bar makes what it should - no problem there. With CyanogenMod you have the possibility to use 'Expanded Mode' (a full screen mode) where you can swipe up to make those action buttons appear. Expanded Mode with Sailfish Launcher disables the buttons, but displaying them with a swipe doesn't work anymore (so they're pretty much gone). Furthermore the Launcher seems to crash when peeking/swiping an application away (though I only experienced that with activated Expanded mode)

Does anyone else have that problem (with stock Android or modded one)?

[UPDATE 28/06/14] Issue isn't related to Cyanogenmod, but to Android 4.3. Action bar works fine on Android 4.4 (Cyanogenmod 11). See answer by @tdb for more details. I'm still trying to figure out when Jolla Launcher crashes by using CM's 'Expanded mode'.

This is happening also in my Nexus 5 with the stock android 4.4.4 when I execute any app

@Djcrash1981 Thanks for your comment. I think it is wanted that the buttons show up as soon as you launch an application. Do the buttons stay when you swipe an application to the background? They should only disappear when using the launcher (Sailfish UI).

OK that sounds fair and yes they desappear as soon as I reach the home screen

It is possible to get the action buttons stuck on the home screen on Nexus 5 (4.4.4) as well. They remain visible on top of the launcher until I launch an application and then return to the home screen.

For me this happens quite often, but I've yet to come up with a reliable way to reproduce the problem. It can be triggered with some combination of using the action buttons to exit from an application and/or using the system power button menu.

@Djcrash Ok great - looks like there's a conflict between the modded Android version and launcher. @Hq: Thanks for the obersvations. What about the status/notification bar?

We are using something called sticky immersive mode, which allows the app to keep the action bar away even during user interaction. This is only available on Android 4.4 and later (API level 19). On earlier Android versions we use the normal fullscreen mode, which hides the status bar but leaves the action bar visible. I don't know how CyanogenMod expanded mode works, but it's possible that it somehow gets confused with this.

I was able to reproduce the bug with the action bar staying visible on top of the launcher on a Nexus 4 with Android 4.4.2. It sometimes occurs when you open the system menu by pressing and holding the power button and then use the home or back button to close it. I'll file an internal bug report so we can get it fixed. Thanks for bringing the problem to our attention.

Thank you for that helpful answer. Reading your answer I assume that the action bar also remains on stock/native Android (below 4.4).

By now I updated to CM11 which is based on Android 4.4. The problem is gone! So it isn't related to CyanogenMod.

I'll see if I find out more about those crashes using 'expanded' mode. But of course I don't expect that Jolla Launcher works with every possible mods out there... Furthermore Jolla's Launcher kinda has its own way of expanding the screen where it makes sense.

Correct, on devices with no hardware buttons and an Android version below 4.4, the action bar is always visible.

A debug dump (icon in the last page of the launcher) may help us in finding out the reason for the crash. Please also share any further details you discover.
