I think it'd be nice to be able to tap the notification icons on the lock screen to directly go to the associated app (like mail, twitter and so) instead of having to swipe up the notification screen first to be able to do so.

Tapping the notifications is conflicting with the concept of LOCK screen as said by many.
Sliding is at the moment reserved for ambience switching.
I see a lot of changes needed to be able to achieve this in the UX... not sure how easy it is.
Swiping from the bottom is just almost impossible for me in one-hand use. I can't twist my thumb down to swipe up -> swiping up to open notifications is just irritating! Please add it to the lock screen pulley menu, and/or slide the icon right on the lock screen to open a message/email directly!

Let's all remember that the dead black screen that needs a double-tap or button press to go away function as a "lock-screen". As for swiping, the N9 has a notification button that can be swiped (not from edge). Works perfect.

Because having icons on the Lock screen will make people tap them (naturally) it would be better IMO if instead of icons you could have a message like " Check your notification screen." in the main screen.

Slide to the left/right on the notification to open it. This would be similar to the N9, but if I'm not mistaken, android also offers a similar feature on the lock screen.
