I irregularily have the problem I am not able to turn 3G internet on. It happens in locations where I know 3G exists. It occured first after last software update to Saapunki.

When I try to turn on the 3G connection in the systems settings the symbol for activation on the top is completely grey. Also trying to turn it on through enabling tethering does not work either but the problem is gone after reboot.

It'd be great if you could advice on how to troubleshoot any further.

Update by @anandrkris Hi, I am facing this issue often after upgrade to 1.1.1.27. Mobile data gets grayed out. It gets resolved on changing 2G / 3G preferences, enable and disable flight mode, restart n/w connections using Sailfish Utilities.

Looks like this ticket addresses the same issue as https://together.jolla.com/question/46865/bug-phone-disables-mobile-network/

I have the same problem. Sometimes is impossible to turn on the 3G data. The only way to have internet in this case, is to reboot the phone. It happens when the phone switch from WiFi to 3G or, sometime, when it switch between Mobile Operators. For example - I leave in Italy and use 3 Italy - when there is not coverage, the phone switch in 2G with TIM, then, when 3 signal is available, on 3 Italy. When turning on 3 Italy, the mobile data doesn't works and I have to reboot the phone.

sorry for my english

I've seen this too, in roaming.

If data roaming is disabled mobile data toggle is grayed out while roaming. Maybe this is happening when network is changed.

I also have H3G Italy as operator and I also had those problems but since the last upgrade (1.0.8.19) it seem solved. I tested it on many conditions that showed the problem and I didn't run in any blockage.

Yesterday I had this problem when I used tethering to work. I discovered in the system settings "mobile internet" was disabled and could not be reenabled too. I tried to configure "prefer 3G" instead of "Prefer 4G" and it did not occur anymore afterwards. I will see how this goes for a week and let you know.

Same here. It's been happening to me for quite a while. Sometimes the phone does not attempt to use mobile data after being connected to wifi, after wifi signal has been lost. Sometimes I find the mobile connection disabled and it cannot be re-enabled, either because the switch does turn on, or because the switch turns on but the status remains disconnected.

Wanted to state switching to "Prefer 3G" works like charme.

Not fixed in 1.0.8.19

I've had this too quite often, and my workaround is to restart the connman service (developer mode):

systemctl restart connman.service

(a reboot might be quicker though, if you don't have fingerterm open already)
