Sailfish OS powered HDMI dongle for media cast / screen mirror [not relevant]
Currently on topics are the Chromecast dongle, Miracast dongle, upcoming Firefox OS powered dongle. Seems to me like it's something that should be done, so I'm proposing Jolla to manufacture Sailfish OS powered dongle with the following features
- Connected to TV/projector/other display device with HDMI
- Connected to Jolla via home WLAN network
- Open Source DLNA supported media player with decent transcoding capabilities included
- 1080p + audio supported. Direct play for Jolla's video recorded format.
- Screen cast (mirror) for Sailfish OS screen
- Screen cast (mirror) for Android screen with Google cast API, making it a perfect replacement for Chromecast
- Price below 100€, but I'd suggest something like 70-80€ with all above included

Nice idea, but I don't think this is doable in short-term. Maybe someone should start a kickstarter-project for this?

I don't have a problem with it. But i doubt i'd buy a device that i will have to go through a long process to install SFOS on it. If another MFG decides to use SFOS officially i might consider it depending on specs and support. Ie. if every update passes through jolla (meaning it will get all the updates and zero fragmentation). As long as Jolla keeps making nice/desirable HW (and i hope Jolla 2 to be more upmarket) i will probably prefer them over any other MFG.
TBH i don't want jolla to become android like. I'd like them to become Apple like. (minus the walled garden stuff of course)
