[Request] 900 MHz 2G support

It works in 2 other devices so it's really a Jolla phone limitation.

It's not about the frequency support per se, but rather the channel support of said frequency. My guess is that it doesn't support the channel of the 900 MHz my provider uses.

The GSM900 frequency is a standard. In Finland the full band (all channels) has been divided between 3 operators. The original band was extended with EGSM, but even that has been in use for a decade. A GSM900 device such as Jolla, should fully support the band.

I found a page that says T-Mobile in Netherlands uses 900 MHz frequency blocks that are almost exactly the same as used by Elisa in Finland. The Jolla phone is offered by Elisa to its customers.

So you have never got 2G to appear on your Jolla? If you set the phone to 2G Only mode from settings, you will not get service?

Actually if there's any place you should get 2G service, it's a city. Because in cities 1800 Mhz 2G is also often used and there are generally more cells that the phone can connect to.

2G Only doesn't help either. No service. 3G service is perfect.

I live in a big and growing city with, unfortunately, quite a few places with 2G only. No service at all, only in 3G areas.

Personally I'd consider the phone faulty and send it to warranty repair. Because I can't see why the 2G shouldn't work. Well, maybe first test it with KPN or Vodafone SIM to see if 2G works at all.
