Like so many others, I find the look of the upcoming BB Passport hardware pretty compelling, especially the combination of massive battery and hardware keyboard. However I find BB10 less than thrilling ... and of the gesture UIs, it's a long way behind Meego, Ubuntu Touch and even Sailfish UX. I don't know what RIM's policy on dual booting or rooting is, but it would certainly be in their / jolla / ubuntu's interests for all 3 to make sure that the Qt / QML reliant Operating Systems can be supported across all 3 devices. Without cooperation, inroads into Android / iOS are never likely.

Anyone know if it's possible with current BB10 devices?

Not sure how likely BB10 being made portable is in the near future ... but it is something RIM have speculated about in the past.

The main advantage (in the opinion of the Blackberry) is the absolute security of data in their devices. Therefore, I do not think he ever let on porting their software ... I have a BlackBerry Z10 - I think it is a great phone and a great system. Sailfish compared to BB OS10 is as primitive as Symbian compared to Android...

BlackBerries have strongly locked bootloaders.

Yes, this is great advantage of BB devices - when "famous" Blackphone was cracked in minutes - so far nobodys can do it with any Blackberry phone.

I would like a backberry Q5 like device for Sailfish just like when I use to have my fabulous Palm Pixi. Webos still remains the best OS ever, according to me of course. But missing a real keyboard and do not need of a big phone. BB Q5 looks good to me.
