I suggest to merge the lock screen and the notification screen. The way it is now, with swipe from (outside) bottom to access the notifications is quite useless if one use security code.

Also, it is not necessary to have a separate screen for notifications - this was demonstrated by MeeGo/Harmattan on Nokia N9: The notifications can be put directly on the lock screen, as icons, that can be swept to the side to open. This would not interfere with Sailfish OS swiping, as one would have to swipe directly on the notification icon in order to open it.

I have read that this "probably" is protected by some Nokia (Microsoft) patent. If so, please clarify with a reference to the patent.

If not, please implement this for greatly improved usability.

Update: Let's not forget that we have two "lock-screens": The black standby screen (now with optional "glance" mode), and behind double-tap/pwrbtn we have the "main" lock-screen. An extra notification screen is superfluous.

Update: 1.1.7.27: Improved usability implemented when lock code is active: When releasing finger on notification screen, one is presented directly with the unlock screen (if lock has been activated).

I agree with merging notification and lock screen. For me, when my Jolla is locked with the security code, I can still peek through the notifications. Of course, I can't open them though.

Yes, we can peek to see eg. "3 new emails" or "10 new tweets". Quite useless since one cannot press the notification (and go to unlock page first, then the notification).

@martinrusler Isn't it what the security code supposed to do? :) To prevent any un-authorized person to access your emails from the notifications without the security code.

@chinauser Why do everybody misunderstand this? Of course I am not suggesting to BYPASS the security code. You press the notification, go to the unlock screen, enter the code, and then will be presented with the notification. (Like on N9).

Not having a separate screen for notifications and such would be a bad idea, You would have to swipe twice just to see your notifications, whereas currently you can just peek at them whenever, wherever. Swipe to open notifications is a good idea, but it's already a feature request I think.

I don't see how your idea would improve usability anyhow, actually. Currently, you unlock the device, open the notification, and you're in the relevant app. With your suggestion, you first tap the notification, then unlock the device, and you're in the relevant app. Not much of a difference if you ask me.
