When i connect my white other half, i got a error saying that the other half isn't working.

"Ce Other Half ne fonctionne pas" (in french)

Is that the case for everyone ?

Just tested my both Jollas, and both white and both poppy ones were working when TOH receiver was enabled.

I've had this too.

fivepointsquare ( 2013-12-29 02:07:13 +0300 )edit

Just wonder how do you attach the OH?
I start from top of device and gradually proceed towards the bottom, so first the NFC tag (at the top) gets in sensor range and only later the OH contact switch (in middle of body) triggers the detection, and I have no problems.

simosagi ( 2013-12-29 10:23:45 +0300 )edit

This is happening to me for the poppy red other half. I don't know if it is a bug or if the tag in my other half is defective.

Today I changed the phone language from German to English and suddenly I could install the "First One" ambience. I have no idea why, but it's worth a try.

I posted this answer to the other TOH thread as well, because it was on top of the list. Hope that is okay.

I followed your instructions and it worked for the LE TOH, but sadly not for the white one

Didn't work for me with white other half.

Khertan ( 2014-01-22 14:15:12 +0300 )edit

Still same issue after update. I have only white other half to test and it gives still same error. Should I contact Jolla care or what to do next?

Juzzi ( 2014-02-02 20:01:10 +0300 )edit

Same for me, January update did not solve this problem. (However, this problem is not included in the Release notes.)

jgr ( 2014-02-03 02:35:37 +0300 )edit

Tried various versions of the above and still get the problem with the other half message. Its a white OH. And the suggested answer here doesn't work.

A little late, but here's a solution. No need to do a factory reset, just remove and reput your TOHs and then install them via Terminal (devel-su)

pkcon install ambience-the-first-one or pkcon install ambience-snow-white

Solution also posted here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1407061&postcount=30

Me too: [root@localhost ~]# pkcon install ambience-the-first-one Command failed: This tool could not find any available package: could not find ambience-the-first-one

Kollin ( 2014-02-13 22:46:36 +0300 )edit

@J4ZZ - Same problem with Poppy Red (not the first one). Looks like it installed but it isn't showing in gallery/ambience picker or even in /usr/share/ambience/? - all other ambiences are showing/working, but not Poppy Red.

I don't know the search term/base name, for this TOH, i.e. pkcon install ambience-?-? (I've tried variations of '-poppy-red' or 'red-poppy' - so, can someone fill in the blanks here please?

I tried the opposite, i.e. uninstalling the snow-white ambience:

[root@dhcppc3 nemo]# pkcon remove ambience-snow-white

Thereafter removing TOH and attaching it again made the Jolla to make a bing sound. Wakening the display it asked me to install the snow-white-ambience. And that worked. The ambience was installed and activated. But what is the point with this? I thought that this ambience should be re-activated if I changed to something else and re-attached TOH, but nothing happens when it is already installed. Maybe I need another TOH? Anyway it is not an easy way to change ambience. It feels like the plastic will break into pieces when removing it. I'm running 1.0.3.8.

For my case pkcon couldn't remove ambience-snow-white because it's not installed. Couldn't install it because it couldn't find any available packages. Also did a pkcon refresh - didn't help either. The First One works fine for me.

Same here, can't install nor remove. White or The first one, have not try black yet

Pikkuhannu ( 2014-02-16 20:52:26 +0300 )edit

Me too - very frustrating!

DavidSquires ( 2014-02-18 21:46:47 +0300 )edit

Ever tried to install manually from my link a few posts above? or here again... What happens if you use pkcon install-local snow-white*.rpm for example?

J4ZZ ( 2014-02-20 18:36:57 +0300 )edit

Installed manually.and reboot, now works! SnowWhite and TheFirstOne both.

So i can't use white or red TOH, i am second owner of this Jolla... You must buy new TOH, if you buy used phone?

But some of us have the bug even though the phone / OH are first hand... Could it be due to the fact the OH has been tested with another phone at Jolla before being sent?

Vivien ( 2014-02-20 21:49:36 +0300 )edit

Have you changed your Jolla account after the first activation? I had the problem that I could not load apps from the Jolla store when using my email as username. After changing the login credentials to use my username instead of the email, the app download worked. TOH Snow White ambiance would not install though because it was tied to my username (which initially was my email). Jolla support fixed this really fast...

Finally I was able to install the white ambience. I contacted Jolla care quite some time ago, and now they asked for my TOH ID, did some magic on the server side, and everything worked :)
