I'm having some thoughts that the Jolla's GPS accuracy could be improved. I've been using navfree and ingress which are using GPS and the results that I have had are not so satisfying. The location seems to be quite jumpy. Could this be because of compass is not supported in android apps? ..I don't think so.
What are your experiences with Jolla's GPS?

GPS positionning and maps is for me one of the main usage of a smartphone and I would say I'm very happy with the Jolla: I tested this feature with a native app like Maep and tried OSMand~ as well. The tracks are generally very accurate once the fix is done, which appens rapidly.
The location fix indoor is quite snappy, so regarding this subject, I'm also happy.

GPS itself seems to be very accurate. I've tried Navfree myself, and after running into similar problems I've been studying this issue earlier. My study for this bug is currently on pause, but it might have something to do with Android support unable to access the gyro sensor. Anyway, the problem seems not to be in the GPS.

to be fair, we'd need to test lowlevel the results we get from both GPS, AGPS, GLONASS natively, to be certain what's this all about...

Bulder ( 2013-12-29 01:17:19 +0200 )editOn the contrary, I have found the GPS+GLONASS awesomely performant: I was able to get almost instant fix indoor or in a train, and this might be some luck or mis-reading but the dot seems to be right at my spot inside the house when used indoor.

Then the readings becomes more accurate, especially an altitude. This doesn't seem to be working well in some Android apps, though (especially GPS testers).The location fix indoors has been very slow at least in Android apps, seems like the mobile network based help (via Here?) is not working. I will do more tests with native apps like Kartat.
