I have some simple contacts with just first name and phone number. Those were temporary and I want to remove them now.

  1. So I search for them (they all contain "TBG").
  2. Remove them one by one.
  3. Wait about 15-30 seconds.
  4. Contacts re-appear.

There is also no way to edit them.

None of those contacts where on a SIM card. I also tried removing contacts after removing SIM card - it doesn't help either.

Just to be sure you know what I'm talking about I made a movie. Skip to 1:20 - this is where weird things start to happen. As you can see some contacts reappear quicker, I don't see a clear pattern here.

It's different in that those are not Facebook, nor any other external service contacts. Somebody just called me and I saved their phone. They are not connected with anything except maybe call history.

Right. Moved the "answer" to comment.

Are they linked to other contacts?

It sounds like they are being synced back from an external service. If the contacts were created locally and you had two-way sync enabled to some service at that time, then the contacts would have been synced to that service. Now, if you remove the local copy, it will be detected as missing from the set synced from the external service, and recreated on the device.
