EDIT 20150316: Just got aware of the [app request] tag and added it to make devs aware of the opportunity ;)

On n900 i really liked that missed calls and messages where reannounced every 5 minutes by a short bell sound using 3rd party app "CallNotify".

Very convinient if you missed a call because of moving through a loud area or beeing away from the phone during the incoming call.

To add to CallNotifys behaviour i would like the repeating notification to stop as soon as you unlock the first time after the missed call.

Another idea could be to have the option to "double flash" the photo LED or the screen to have other clear visual notification options in dark and loud places, like the ones i work at a lot.

As this would be distracting or annoying to some users and clearly uses up batterypower, i would like to have it optional configurable via -> Settings -> Appearance -> "some fitting name", eg. "missed events"

"remind on missed event:" -> [call] [IM] [SMS] [email][birthday] [event x] "periodic every:" -> [10...600] sec.

"notification options per event:" -> [audiotone x] [LEDflash] [screenflash] [vibrate] [notification LED] [notification area] [lockscreen icon] [log to file x] [execute command x]

majorEdit1: Added [lockscreen icon], [log to file x] and [execute command x] to notification options and implied that the "notification options" should be adjustable seperat for each "missed event" on ralooyars suggestion.

majorEdit2: corrected info on n900 relying on external app "CallNotify" to provide the feature, thanks to zlatko.

may I extend this feature request to more than just missed calls - include SMS, new emails and IM messages.

My now ancient Motorola Timeport 280 did this back then and I found it very useful.

Will be nice to be integrated in the system. On Symbian and Maemo there were applications taking care of that, so this nice feature can be addressed by third party developers as well.

Great idea! I miss this, too.

What do you mean by "notification options:" -> ... [notification area]?

I would like to have the little LED beneath the phone display (not the photo flash led) blink or glow, if I missed an event alarm. So please, add this, too.

At the moment, hitting an event alarm turns the display on, showing the event alarm, and making the phone play an audio. This is repeated two times after 5 minutes, if you don't react. Than all is silent, forever. What I want to say: There is already some kind of repeating reminder for some kind of phone events. But I totally agree: Those should be generalized in such a powerful system, as described in the question!

From what I have found out by now I guess that all that reminders (maybe except of LED flash) can be configured by using the non-graphical feedback daemon. You can change settings there by editing text files found in /usr/share/ngfd, presuming you have time for a little research.

Your request emphasises again, how much a GUI interface is needed, though, as requested here.

A first approach could be creating and collecting a couple of notification recipes.

Have you solved this solution? I look for the same feature after 5 years. I will try to change the file /usr/share/ngfd/call_exists.ini

Could anybody check my draft?

original file:

# Mised call exists indication
[call_exists]
mce.led_pattern = PatternCommunicationCall

I will add follow lines:

sound.profile = im.alert.tone => sound.filename
sound.profile.fallback = im.alert.tone@fallback => sound.filename
#after 5 minutes remider
sound.delay-startup = 3000
#after 5 minutes and 5s stop reminding
sound.fade-stop = 3005

Now I look a command to repeat this two times.

Great Ralf! Maybe an interval kind of thing with a condition to stop would be clean? No idea about that in qml tho.
