Any video output possibility?
Is there any method to connect the Jolla phone to a TV?
Slimport,MHL?
Maybe with a dedicated TOH?
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.
It's possible to stream video content out from Jolla via DLNA with setting up a media server on Jolla and a player to your computer/smart device connected to your TV.
I've personally used Smart TV WiFi Remote + DLNA(Android app) for this since January: http://reviewjolla.blogspot.fi/2014/01/howto-jolla-and-dlna-media-sharing.html

This post is a wiki. Anyone with karma >75 is welcome to improve it.
I'm surprised that this hasn't been answered officially here yet. Whilst I still cannot reconcile the answer I received to the fact that physical connectors have been included for power and audio where there are wireless alternatives, apparently nobody uses cables to output video these days. (Apart from those very few who use a 3.5 jack or HDMI over USB in other devices)
Copied below is the response to one of the questions (still waiting on the other) I posted to Jolla Customer Service before becoming bemused with the whole situation and offended by the 'corporate' response I received following this. Hopefully that covers what is still being asked here.
Jolla's eventual response I received back in February-
To answer to your original question: No, we currently do not support HDMI or Video out. So the audio jack is just that, i.e., for audio output. As you may already be aware, the industry standard is moving towards wireless second screen playback (reference Apple's AirPlay, Chromecast's DIAL [1] and Wifi alliance's MiraCast [2] all variations of the same idea). In order for Jolla to move in this direction, it will require SW development and most likely HW development, too. Unfortunately, we have no timelines we can communicate at this time for when this feature/functionality will be available.
Sadly this made my purchase completely pointless and I still use my N9 and also have a 400 Euro mini tablet. I see that's my own fault for not checking what I thought would be a standard function on any smartphone before I bought it so still wish Jolla well and hope your next iteration of hardware is what you and we want it to be. (reading only now about there being chipset issues)
For me it was a question of flexibility. Having a network or computer or smart device as well as the Jolla to connect to a display isn't always possible. Then again, carrying a 3.5 video cable or mini HDMI converter cable instead of a wireless HDMI dongle is hardly much difference so I am splitting hairs in some ways.
Then again perhaps it is just us long in the tooth techies that still trust in cables over wireless and MHL and Displayport are doomed.
In any case the idea was to add in what was in an official response I'd had for the others who were asking about physical connections and now Simo has kindly linked a means to achieve the goal of outputting video from a Jolla, which answers the original question and is far more helpful. Thanks Simo.
ai ( 2014-07-09 15:21:48 +0200 )edit@juiceme Actually most android flagships have MHL capability which is TV-out mirrored from the Smartphone via the micro USB port via cable.
A few recent flagship smartphones even have micro HDMI-out still although this solution appears to be becoming less preferable over MHL.
This is a feature I really miss from both the N900/N9 and I would very much like to see something come to Jolla. Actually using the headphone input to double as a AV-out was such a perfectly simple solution.
JollaTides ( 2014-07-10 15:22:36 +0200 )edit3.5mm video out is nice, but it uses one of the pins that would be used for a microphone in a headset otherwise. Earphones with mics weren't common in the Symbian era so manufacturers could get away with using the third connector for video.
I'd like to see MHL HDMI support personally.

[Request][Video][Media][HDMI][MHL]HDMI or MHL support [duplicate]
Toggle between video and still modes in camera app (faster than now) [released]
Dark video in low light from front camera [released]
Bug: Video black after position change [released]
.avi files better support [answered]
Suggestion: black background in video player [released]
[Hardware feature request] OTG and MHL [not relevant]
Gallery app: option to continue video playback in active cover
Not likely with a TOH - the I2C based TOH interface is unfortunately too low-bandwidth for that.
MartinK ( 2013-12-29 14:16:20 +0200 )editThen, data speed will also be the k.o. criteria for a camera TOH (max clock rate on I2C = 3.4 MHz, i.e. roughly 3 Mbit/s corresponding to about 10 s transfer time for a comparably low quality 3 MByte image ... if Jolla should not support max clock rate on I2C, data transfer would be even slower).
jgr ( 2014-01-07 22:55:18 +0200 )editAnd any possibility using the microUSB?
niuran ( 2014-01-08 00:22:08 +0200 )editIs it not possible to get TV out support with the 3.5 jack? :o
Alex ( 2014-02-10 12:38:15 +0200 )edit@Alex: If you manage to view TV with your ears ;-)
According to specs "Standard 3.5mm 4-pin audio jack". (I would wonder if there is the additional electronics included in the Jolla that would be needed for such ideas.)
