Aptoide forgot all added stores, installed software, ... How to get them back? [answered]

I'm not really sure when, but it must be roughly 2 weeks ago that Aptoide suddenly didn't display the list of stores I had added during the last months... also, it doesn't show one single installed application and therefore no pending updates. I had also noticed that I was no longer logged in. When I fixed that, it didn't change a thing about missing apps and stores.

The applications installed from Aptoide are still on my device and work properly.

Any ideas? It's just annoying that I don't get any notification about updates any more as Aptoide has forgotten which programs I have. (I always thought it checks what installed on the device rather than keeping a separate database?) Searching my apps one by one in Aptoide, adding the stores they're in manually and then hoping that Aptoide won't act up again is scertainly an option. I'd just want to know before why this happened, if it happened to anyone else, and if there's a chance that I can restore a backup file that Aptoide maybe hides somewhere?

Sounds like the Aptoide store is somehow isolated. But I've never heard of that problem. Usually Aptoide should recognise all installed Android apps (means also those which weren't installed with Aptoide). Some questions:

  1. Do other Android apps work well (connection to internet)? If not: Reboot device or use "KillDroid" from OpenRepos.net (Warehouse) to restart Android service on your Jolla phone

  2. Do you have following folders (you can use any file browser for that which can see hidden files): List item

  • a) /home/nemo/android_storage/.aptoide (hidden folder) including a xxxxxxxx.xml file + 2 folders called "apks" and "icons"

  • b) /home/nemo/android_storage/.aptoide_settings (hidden folder) with file "oem"

Furthermore you could contact Aptoide support (https://aptoide.zendesk.com/anonymous_requests/new) since (in my optinion) it sounds like it isn't a problem related to Sailfish OS or Alien Dalvik.

I hope you find a solution as soon as possible!

Thanks for your reply.

.aptoide_settings is missing. maybe i should just re-install Aptoide?

(Funny thing ist that aptoide backup sees all installed apps while Aptoide itself doesn't ...)

You're very welcome. Re-install Aptoide would be the easy solution and propably recreate the missing settings folder. Unfortunately it won't give you back your selected stores... Unfortunately the Aptoide login doesn't restore any settings, so far it's only there to give you a possibility to create your own stores.

Uninstalled Aptoide, deleted the remaining /home/nemo/android_storage/.aptoide folder manually, re-installed Aptoide (this time from the Jolla store, unlike before).

Funny thing was that all the already installed apps plus a list of updates only came in after I installed something that was from the "apps" market. (After installation, there's only the Jolla market pre-configured.) I find that somewhat strange because my observation was that the Jolla market is a more or less useless duplicate of the "apps" market, right?

Anyway... seems to work now.

If anyone has this problem, here's what I think caused it:

When I first installed Aprtoide, it wasn't yet available in the Jolla store. I downloaded it directly from the Aptoide website. Therefore, the only market I had was the regular Aptoide "apps" market - plus a few smaller ones that followed.

I'm now pretty sure that my problem started when I installed the so-called "Jolla" market, which is just a copy of the default "apps" and doesn't serve any purpose as far as I can tell. As both markets share the same content, something must have gone wrong within the Aptoid client.

Later I uninstalled Aptoide and re-installed it from the Jolla Store. Therefore, my default market was set to "Jolla"... and I still couldn't see any installed apps nor updates. Only after I manually added the Aptoide market again they magically appeared. It seems there's something fishy when you have both "apps" and "Jolla" as markets... and that the behaviour of the clients depends on which one was there first.

I'll close this question for now as I was able to solve it - or work around the problem. It also seems it's not Jolla-specific but is an issue with the Aptoide client. I hope so, at least.
