Can we please have the calculator source code? And/or what's the reason the source is not out there (so far)?

Thanks.

Update - Annoying bugs like this are not fixed for long time. - https://together.jolla.com/question/21259/bug-cant-divide-by-previous-result-in-calculator/

I genuinely would like to know if there is anything properitary for an app as simple as Jolla Calculator. Clarification of open-source policy

To be honest, more than anything this irks me as it somehow projects the intent of Jolla on open-source. This is not just another rant but there is a pragmatic reason why I am writing this. Jolla has so much on plate and small thing may miss their attention and so making apps like Calculator open-source would lead to bug fixes and feature additions.

Jolla has immensely benefiited from making Sailifsh Office and Browser open-source.

  • Sailfish Office gained password protection support for PDF, File search, PDF dcoument search, Toolbar UI changes and fixes from the community. In particular owing to Damien Caliste who has been making awesome contributions to Sailfish Office.
  • Same applies to Browser which has some good contributions from community. In fact even Jolla acknowldedged efforts of one of the community a developer Siteshwar here. https://blog.jolla.com/developer-spotlight-siteshwar-open-source-sailfish-browser/

You may know already, but the UI part of the calculator can be found in /usr/share/jolla-calculator as qml files. If I understand properly these files are under BSD licence, but not headers can be found.

The closed part handles the actual performing of calculation if I'm not mistaken.

wow, I can imagine the brutal rocket science behind the implementation.

I agree that I see no point in keeping this closed source.

I would be even more interested in the source code of the calendar app.

@jolla-mtb-jj: then make a ticket about requesting calendar app code such that we can vote on it... :-) @Damien Caliste: thanks!
