Hello sailors,

In the official camera app from jolla phone it could be a more easier way to switch from a camera to the other one, between the front and the behind one. it could be a small pulls to the left side in the apps to be done.

Currently the pulls to the right side permit the access to the gallery. With the pulls direction to the left happen nothing. but it could be used to switch from a camera to the other one. what do you think about it?

I would find it really practicable. seems to be easy to make it possible....

have a nice sail

Update: If gesture can not be implemented for some reason, it could be built as a toggle.
I don't know many people use Exposure Compensation settings.
perhaps it could be replaced with a icon to switch between front and back camera.
Or be placed beside of it.

and easy to develop i think. make this sailfish feature app a little bit special and really practicable.

it then should be optional to choose between front/back camera but for some people it could be better to swap to video and back to normal camera. which you'd prefer the most.

@FOMBE: really good question. why did you not post it as answer? after thinking, it will be better to choose it in option, if this action allow camera switch or video/camera swap. I'll do update the thread question, if it is ok for you.

Coderus was kind enough to write this patch for us, selfie freaks. So we have a workaround till Jolla makes changes.

Try it at your own risk. Not official

https://openrepos.net/content/coderus/patch-move-camera-device-settings-front

(Needs patch manager)

@anandrkris ?? did you try it? hum... (little bit naiv from me) which kind of patch manager you mean?

cemoi71 ( 2015-02-02 18:43:54 +0300 )edit

Yes, it works for me. I assume you have Warehouse app installed to get openrepos applications. (Need to enable Untrusted software) https://together.jolla.com/question/28743/solvedhow-to-install-warehouse/?answer=28746#post-id-28746 Patchmanager will be available in warehouse app and you need to enable the camera patch. https://openrepos.net/content/sfietkonstantin/patchmanager

that is a really interesting proposal for a concept. is sad that's still not as non-official...

Since early release 2.0 Saimaa you can pull down a panel in events view, where there is quick actions (Settings -> Events -> Quick actions) , there is an easy workaround now as we can invoke 'Take a Selfie' shortcut available as a quick option in top panel by pulling the menu in the Events screen. BTW I am not saying original topic is not relevant now.

But after using this quick action the front camera stays engaged for the next use, even if app is started all over, which imo is a bit itchy.

@anandrkris Could you please put the sfos version where it works and maybe a link on how could we use it (like this:https://together.jolla.com/question/117024/which-additional-quick-actions-would-you-like-to-have/) that's not trivial for every one to come on this feature. thx
