We need to have a more useful store. Current store have a sort of social wall, providing some interesting information about how users likes and submitted. This is interesting and helps application discoverability but have some drawbacks too, like having the same application appearing many times, because it has been liked several times.

Here is a list of ideas to improve the store

  • Add don't like ("red thumb pointing down"), to balance the number of likes ("green thumbs"), just like in youtube. A number of likes in absolute means less than a balance of them, and the total number.
  • Add a list of most downloaded, most liked, best rated applications
  • Feature applications, like "pick of the week", and push highlighted applications with their banner inside the social feed.
  • Remove spamming of the feed. Push selective information inside the feed. For example, you can select the applications that have a high number of votes and push them, or only push new applications that got downloaded and upvoted etc.
  • Separate Android and Native applications (add a distinctive sign like a green robot for Android apps inside the application description)

Or a "NEW" apps category with the latest new apps.

There is a categories view as second page if you swipe to the left. The categories show the most liked apps on top and then the apps sorted by date, newest first. So in the All category, you can see the latest new apps or updates on top.

A "dislike" button could be abused too much. So there is only "like" and "revoke your like" (touch the like button again).

@pycage maybe a karma damage like dislike ? How can you filter popular and bad application vs newcoming and good application with only likes ?
