Might need a bit more computing power than a mobile phone has.
Most likely you're gonna get better results by reflowing them before uploading the file to your phone. Sure it's a step everyone would like to skitp. I have used K2pdfopt when ever I have needed to make pdf readeble on my mobile devices. It supports multi-column articles too.
I don't know why you think reflow needs some extra resources. It works perfectly fine with several Android apps. Also, it worked on my old Android phone with 600Mhz single core cpu.
