I’m using my phone without a lock code. Often, I have an app open (e.g. the notes, with notes I have to have available to read for a while, or some navigation code). Currently, if I blank the device using the power button, or by letting it sit idle for a while, and then come back I’m at the home screen.

I’d like to be simply where I was before.

This is especially annoying when using some navigation app while cycling. I blank the screen to save power using the power butten, but then I cannot get back to the app using just the power button, and I have to interact using the screen, which means taking of my gloves, doing a swipe and a press. Not particular safe on a bike. (This scenario is better by simply not blanking – the app seems to prevent the idle timeout – but that wastes power).

Note that this question is not about having a short remorse timer, although it might be solved by a configurable remorse timer that can be set to something large.
