Bluetooth pairing with iZettle card reader stuck at "Connecting..."

I'm a small business owner, and have attained an iZettle payment card reader. It operates over bluetooth with a tablet/smart phone. I have succesfully paired the iZettle with my ZTE Blade III, but something's going wrong with the Jolla.
1) Jolla finds the iZettle, requests pairing when I select it. 2) iZettle transmits a 6-digit code to the Jolla, and displays it in its own window. 3) I compare the codes, they are the same, so I accept on both the iZettle and the Jolla 4) Jolla displays the iZettle with "Connecting..." underneath and the checkmark beside it looks like perhaps it is supposed to move to solid -- it is currently only an outline of a checkmark. 5) The iZettle never indicates that the devices have been paired.
In the Jolla, device settings for the iZettle show: Supported profiles: SPP, DID, Unrecognized profiles
