Smells like a bug: ssh/scp problem
My first question: is there an open Jira somewhere? Sure, this is not the right place to commit bug reports.
Though I'm not sure, if it's really a bug, I noticed a funny thing.
Szenario: I'm trying to upload some music (various formats) to my Jolla via SFTP/WIFI, there the sdcard, that I once formatted to ext4. Currently I am on Ubuntu and Gnome2.
The bug I may have found: the upload hangs every now and then. Too often, as I am concerned.
But: having a shell open connected to my Jolla, I just can trigger an event by simply pressing the return key (any other command is ok, too), that makes the upload immediately take on. ???
Isn't this funny? Somewhat seems to block the upload thread. And I can obviously release this block using the shell.
In my little piece of mind this could be a bug as well as it should be fixed. I am pretty sure, one think tank of yours can do this.
I noticed the same behaviour as soon as the display goes off. Just wake the phone again and the upload continues.
forgrimm ( 2014-12-10 23:08:30 +0200 )editsounds more as a power saving feature than a bug. WLAN uses lots of power (eats the battery) so it is suspended when the user is not active. If I remember correctly n900 does the same.
penpen ( 2014-12-11 01:47:52 +0200 )editWhile I too suspect it's a power saving issue, I'd still call it a bug: The point is to find a good definition of a user being active. In my book, a running file transfer certainly counts as user activity and should not allow any power saving to kick in.
ossi1967 ( 2014-12-11 10:13:08 +0200 )editHm. I had to notice, that some uploads didn't work to their end (some albums were not completely uploaded - so not all songs). And: somehow the two ssh adresses (USB/WIFI) seem to issue a concurrency problem. And of course the rigid usage of the developer mode (well done, dudes!).
Ah! Ok, this might be the cause.
After all I am sorry for having opened this ticket. I should have investigated this a bit further. There should be a QA for the QA :D.
Hoping, your QA will stand my new old app, that I contributed today,
best,
Roger
