[idea] open pairing jolla protocol for jolla-phone, jolla-tablet like "bonjour"
Hey guys...
While reading this: https://together.jolla.com/question/63867/request-jolla-tablet-idea-jolla-tablet-jolla-smartphone-pairingcommunication/ I had an idea:
A "magic" and open protocol like Apple's "bonjour" between jolla and jolla-tablet could be really cool. I have in mind something like what Apple did with OSX and IOS, for example: when you receive an SMS on IOS device you can read and answer on OSX platform or you can also reading a file (pdf, music, images) from a other devices where it's stored on (like sharing library on Itunes).
The idea is to have an open protocol implemented on the sailfish 2.0 (that will make the communication between phone and tablet) and from here we can do something like receive a call on jolla phone and answer with the tablet, or read music that is on the tablet with the phone... And live this protocol open and documented to let weird guy (like me) make a client on other platform (like desktop) and make awesome things with it. If I see something like that I will personally make a desktop linux client !
While not totally related to what you ask if you want bonjour/avahi/zeroconf on jolla please upvote this

There's even an application that uses Bonjour to do what you described: It forwards SMS messages to your PC (running Windows, OSX or GNU/Linux) so you can answer them there. It's called Squillaand is available at OpenRepos.net.
The other issue is if all of the functionality you desire can be implemented as core functions of the OS. It is not unlikely that patents prevent that.
