What is the syntax of subfolders in ~/Download/mail_attachments/ (e.g. 497-2)?

Idea: maybe it would be better to name subfolders YYYYMMDD so downloaded attachments can be easier found from other apps (e.g. upload dialog from a web site in browser)

Of course, from terminal they are easily distinguished by date.

In my opinion there is no need for subfolders, but maybe this is related to the fact that I dont have that much downloads. Personally I'd strongly prefer to have only one Mail attachment folder because deleting would be more easy.

Aren't the numbers based on the message IDs on the mail server?

If so, then that is a convenient choice for the developers but not exactly useful to the user.

In my experience, the whole media experience on Jolla is designed around tracker. You are supposed to look in the Gallery and not even know anything about files and directories (there is not even an official file browser, only third-party apps). That works for technically challenged users with not too much multimedia content but quickly becomes cumbersome with the number of pictures/videos growing over a few dozen and is an inconvenience for the tecchies.

Another approach could be the one used with android. A context menu asking you whether to view or safe the attachment. Viewed attachments are stored temporarily only and deleted (on a regular basis).

I found that quite intuitive.

Created a new request on this. (https://together.jolla.com/question/80827/context-menu-for-downloading-or-viewing-email-attachments/)

How about context menu "save as" and a default download folder for auto-dl instead of this temp like but actually persistent folderstructure and open attachments only temporary if not saved automatically by default?

What about no substructure at all with clean-ups on a regular configurable basis.

Keep $User in mind please, who wants to have to set anything for temporary files? Same is on your desktop, if you want something for later offline use, you save it somewhere... everything else has to come back on request and not persist on my device!
