Cargodock is able to login and connect to my owncloud server but it just is unable to read the files or even download them to the phone so that they can be read by an external program !

Does cargo dock need to be run as root to be usable ? The same issue wont happen if cargodock was used for accessing local phone filesystem . So it has to do with owncloud connection. Sailfish os : 1.0.8.21 Cargo dock : 0.2.2.1

I suggest you bring this up in the Cargo Dock thread at talk.maemo.org, http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=92140. I don't think this is an issue concerning Sailfish or Jolla, but Cargo Dock and ownCloud.

@Blizzz What do you mean by " any problems" ? Did you specifically imply that you are able to browser your owncloud files and save them to local disk ? As mentioned above the program cargo dock works great for local files but on a remote service like owncloud it is unable to read / download the file. Infact there isn't even a option for it.

@pavi, you might know this, but just to make it clear: To download a file from a remote service, you select the file and then select "Copy to other side" from the bottom pulley menu (having a local, user-writeable directory open in the other pane). What happens when you do this?

I think you can't read the contents of a file from a remote service without downloading it to a local folder first, because Cargo Dock doesn't sync the contents of your ownCloud/Dropbox/other to your phone but only shows you the file list.

Yes, I can browse any of my configured two ownCloud instances, and download and upload files. Plus, see @ssahlas answer
