The Sailfish map application is capable of handling geo URIs that specify WGS84 coordinates of a point -- mimetype x-maemo-urischeme/geo, e.g. geo:60.16758,24.95135. (You can confirm this with e.g. xdg-open at a terminal.)

To actually make use of this, geo URIs in SMS messages and plain text emails should be rendered as clickable links, which they currently don't seem to be. This would make it easier for people communicate their location to each other with standard platform-independent short location messages that when clicked open in the platform default map application. For more information, see e.g.
