because - hitting the button for showing tabs is difficult - virtual Keyboard covers favorites - favorits as list provided better oversight - redundant actions in second stage pop up - breakes with sailfish ui

I like the new browser ui. It gives some fresh feel to me.

Regarding that it breaks Sailfish ui - I do hope it's just a first leak of future Sailfish OS 2.0 ui.

@turtoisedoc it's in the second line of the menu, and to me it's perfect as I don't go forward that often.

A hint: Sliding down on the keyboard hides it.

i do not understand why sailfish-browser doesn't go back to previous tab anymore when closing recent tab. That is very annoying...

Disagree. The only thing I am missing personally is the forward arrow.

I absolutely agree that it is worse.

Especially the new favourites view is really bad: - keyboard covers half of the view, so you need additional gesture to close it - many pages I have bookmarked do not have a favicon, and text below is too short to quickly identify what page is bookmarked

Proposal: add a browser setting for list or icon view of favourites.

your answer is better off in a bug report as "unusable" bookmarks is a bug ;)

It might help if the favorites page would not focus the search field by default. In that case the keyboard would not show up.

What I don't really like with this new browser is while Jolla is changing UI and all of us discussing it's consistancy/inconsistancy, button positionning, icon useage, etc (all this threads have dosens votes/comments and hundreds of views), the browser itself is barely developing. In more then a year now we finally have text search, but still don't have text reflow, text selection, night/reading modes, any way to organise favorites, any useful and handy way to use browsing history, no real improvement of html5 support, no support for browser plugins/addons (well, I personaly desperately need just one — AdBlock — but I need it! Just Hate All That Banners!), etc — just a few things I can name briefly without using search over this forum. All this imo are more important problems spoiling browser usability more then any UI and/or design errors.

Sorry to be off-topic. :(

^-- This! And on a sarcastic note and tone:"But I want it to look nice, mommy!" :) Being serious again, you are so fudging correct! As long as the browser is unusable below the deck, I don't care how the buttons and switches look like. And may I recommend to look at µBlock, I prefer this, it's less resource hungry and I've read news that AdBlock has allowed some advertisers to go through their filters in return of drums and fanfares - money. (And as usual, correct me if I'm wrong/mistaken.. :)

@raketti Yeah, I've read all that AdBlock story… People are people, they are weak. But still, it cuts off 99% of ad scum, and all others you can always cut off manually. And it's better to have something, then to have nothing. µBlock — ok, 'll have a look at it.

@rburkhanov True story, human nature. :) I don't know if there's that much that gets through, but what cought my attention was the difference in resources - I'm using a 5-year-old Acer, so I need every bit. :P

If you're unhappy with the default browser you can try Webcat or WebPirate which are two alternative native web browsers for SailfishOS :)

One thing I don't understand in open source community. If something is bad the way to act to that is to propose or start developing another half baked alternative. Why is everything half baked? Why aren't people working to make one browser great instead of 6 half done? Sorry for being off-topic here. I don't really need alternatives, I need a working browser.

Just because you don't like the new browser ui doesn't mean that it's broken or unstable.

People have different taste, and I don't see anything wrong with having different browsers to choose from. If you not like a particular app, simply don't install it. Also the developers behind the stock browser and the alternative ones are not the same, so discontinuing the other ones probably wouldn't speed up development of stock browser.
