Hi,

I installed the latest Keira Black ambience update (0.1.0) yesterday evening. And I have to say, that I really don't like the new background! The Keira Black was a great ambience with a general dark background and bright rainbow color lines. It was nice to look at day and night.

This was the look with version 0.0.3: image description

And this is it with version 0.1.0: image description

Guys, the name is Keira BLACK and not Keira GREY!!!

Change this back to the former version please! The new look even on the cover screen is really bad! I paid 29€ for a dark cover with a dark look and very cool sounds and not for such a grey ugly rubbish background!

PS: Maybe anyone has the old Keira black ambience rpm and can share with us here. :-)

I totally agree with @Armadillo! The new ambience style looks ugly and grey. The app screen is now very bright and not the cool black anymore.

Agreed, the original was much better!

I could agree but i don't see the point to tag this as a bug..

You're right. I removed the bug tag. :-)

I'm happy to have seen this thread before updating. Is there a way to permanently block the version 0.1.0 from being installed?

You can download the package your own (with your device)

pkcon download /home/nemo/ ambience-black

it will prompt you to choose what to download.

Thanks, it works. :-) But it's only a workaround as I don't want to update all apps manually forever. :-/

To get the old background, you can extract the old background (/usr/share/ambience/ambience-black/images/black.png) and copy it back to the folder after the update, to replace (devel-su needed) the new file (/usr/share/ambience/ambience-black/images/black-0.0.4.png).

indeed, it's quite annoying to have that update notification in the event screen all the time and can't remove it. there should be an option to ignore update or truly clear the notifications, not only fb and Twitter

@Dragomir extract the picture from the old rpm (don't install the old rpm) and replace the picture after updating, see what @Armadillo posted above and you won't have any problem with it.

Jolla stated via Twitter:

Changes to Keira Black are to improve the legibility of text and visibility of app covers

I don't see the point when text and app covers were not visible. And why letting it be for months and now change it in a radical way?

I also don't see the need of this change. The only thing which comes to my mind is that there are changes in the UI for SFOS 2.0 which needs such changes.

But the deep black gives a great contrast to the normal light colors of app covers and the text. So this "improvement" would make it worse than better.

And why the hell is this not communicated by Jolla here, but on Twitter?!

This way of forcing unwanted changes is the exact opposite of "Doing It Together" :(

I see how they want to change this, then. Anyway, I tried installing the two backgrounds, and while the new one looks slightly lighter on the phone, it is not as different as when seen on the computer monitor. I do not think the newer version look that much worse that the original, just give it some time.
