Is it possible to remove the native Jolla mediaplayer and replace it with Android based player? Can other apps use it? Thanks!

How often do you open single audio files from a file-browser? Just use the android app of your choice... there are more than 5 audio-players in openrepos btw.

Can the openrepo audioplayer replace mediaplayer? I don' t want to have many apps installed that does the same thing.

What do you mean by replace? You can remove whatever you want and install whatever you want... If you are looking for a player that plays mp3 when chosen from a file-browser the answer is probably no. If you want to play your playlists and your music from another application then this is a yes.

So I can just go to app manager and uninstall native mediaplayer?

You don't even need to go that far; just long press on it's shortcut, and tap the x.

Remember when you first started up the device, you were given the option to install or not any of the native apps?

you have to go into /usr/share/applications and define the mime-type there in one of the .desktop files

You mean for setting a default app. Could it be that this was the actual intention for this question?

well he want to uninstall the jolla one and replace it with another one, 'that can be used in other applications' so i undestood he want to make the other player default player. if you uninstall media and install i.e. daedalus, there is no default player defined.

Try Quasar MX from native store!

I also like its simplicity. I wish it was more integrated into sailfish os UI like the default media player !

The UI was horrible and awful, as well as very un-sailfishy. The texts are extremely small and very hard to read.

I do admit that it had a few knows that the default player did not, but still, I can't honestly recommend it.

Deadalus in warehouse, really nice.

Deadalus is awesome! The UI has a lot of improvements over the default player, but also has a few things that clearly require more work.

My main issue with it, is that headset buttons don't work. But it's still a keeper.

There is no way to set default applications yet. See https://together.jolla.com/question/37936/configure-what-applications-are-launched-by-default-using-the-freedesktop-standard/ and the answer here https://together.jolla.com/question/1836/set-default-browser/

well yes, no, partly ;-) you have to connect with ssh to your phone, switch to root and modify one of the desktop files in o usr\share\applications i tried that out and defined the mime-type there in one of the .desktop files i was able to launch then an alternative player from file browser, but not to start the exact song but my linux skill are poor, so maybe i missed a parameter

LLs Video Player from warehouse / openrepos will register itself as multimedia player by default.
