With Jolla the alarm is thankfully working even when the phone is turned off! But: the useful option to turn the alarm off by flipping the Jolla face down is not working with my Jolla when it is turned off...!!!

So is it a bug, a missing feature or an individual problem of my Jolla?

The "turned off" alarms are handled in limited functionality "act dead" mode. One of the limitations is that sensor services are not started/fully operational -> orientation changes are not reported -> flip to silence does not work.

I think there are many more interesting questions awaiting for an answer from Jolla ^^

I think that's the answer and topic can be closed? Sounds like sensor services aren't possible in "act dead" mode or wouldn't make sense.
