Update: We'll start rolling out the update to everyone today. If possible, update with the device connected to a charger. If you have phonehook from OpenRepos installed uninstall it before upgrading.

Please ensure that you have ~1.5GB of free disk space before attempting to upgrade your Jolla. If connected to the internet, and your account is subscribed for early access releases, your Jolla should receive an OS update notification shortly.

As usual,

  • If you use phonehook from OpenRepos, uninstall it before upgrading
  • If you use patchmanager, revert all applied patches before upgrading
  • If your device is running software version lower than 1.0.4.20 and have WareHouse app installed (i.e you are using OpenRepos), disable all openrepo repositories before attempting to upgrade your device.
  • Do not reboot the device while the update is in progress.
  • The device screen may blank out during the update process, you may waken the display by a short press on the power key to monitor the progress.

Upgrade version history

  • 1.1.4.28 (15.4.2015): Initial early access release
  • 1.1.4.29 (28.4.2015): Fix 'peek to events possible on locked device' and 'duplicate caldav calendars'

  • Split keyboard in landscape mode, with option to turn it off

Known issues

OS update process

  • If you have phonehook from OpenRepos installed uninstall it before upgrading.
  • Currently, checks on available disk space happens very late during the OS upgrade process and will fail in the installation phase if the disk space is low. Normally there should be an error note asking you to free some disk space and try again, but in some marginal cases it might not be shown. Should this happen, free some disk space and try to install the OS update again.
  • OS update may fail due to some other reasons too, for example it may have installed some packages from the new release and still have something left from the old. If the device can boot up, you can try to recover by doing the following. If not, you can attempt to recover the device using the recovery mode.
    • Delete the file /home/nemo/.cache/store-client/os-info
    • Stop the store-client process (for e.g. pkill store-client)
    • Reopen Settings app, check for updates again and attempt to install the OS update again
  • We have also noted that if the OS update is attempted while there is long queue of installation of apps from the Store, the system may end up in mixed state (for e.g. select all the apps from startup wizard, and start the system update already while the apps are being installed).
    • In such cases, the OS update appears to be stalled, however it is just waiting for the installations to complete before attempting to upgrade the OS. Just wait patiently, the worst thing to do here is to reboot the device!

Other issues

  • calDAV and cardDAV services are in experimental stage. We have made some improvements with this update, however you may still face issues with certain service providers. Do report it in t.j.c. We'll take a look and try to sort it out.
  • Deleting photo from Camera roll may also delete the previous photo. If camera reel's pulley menu has "Show details" greyed out - means the photo hasn't been indexed yet. Deleting photo in such state will result in previous photo deleted too. If you wait long enough (~10-15seconds) for 'Show details' to become active, only that photo will get deleted when you choose to.

Already got it ;)

I like it so far, smooth in general, feels tighter, quicker, more responsive over all. Not long now and we'll be talking about Sailfish OS 2.0 :)

As according to the full changelog in the seperate post, the "some calDAV improvements" that are talked about are not more than "Use ignore_ssl_errors configuration option"?

Update failed at first, ended up "between" the versions, without icons for example. I don't hack my Jolla much, and this was the first update causing any kind of smallest trouble. However, updating on second try was successful.

The installation process was quite slow. The new version has a significant improvement in the responsiveness of the device.

I tried to update to Äijänpäivänjärvi but got a message that the update failed. After I rebooted the device, Yliaavanlampi (1.1.2.16) is still in the device and while trying to update again the Äijänpäivänjärvi update won't show in the OS updates like before. I already tried this: Delete the file /home/nemo/.cache/store-client/os-info, Stop the store-client process (for e.g. pkill store-client) but there is no such file as os-info. I also rebooted the phone but nothing changed.

Also battery status doesn't show the percentage at all and mobile network icon is grayed and wifi icon is missing. I still can make phone calls and Internet works with both 3G and wifi.

Is there any other way to get the phone back to normal and update the Äijänpäivänjärvi than going back to factory settings?

Should have read the comments abowe. Commands rpm -e --noscripts phonehook and after that version --dup helped me.

My installation did go pretty much same way as above, but unfortunately I can't activate developer mode! Jolla account is offline some how can I update coming fixes?

go to terminal.. and give pkcon update
then give yes after reebooting your phone. the os will be updated

My update 1.1.4.28 went ok, but it broke my accounts linking. It won´t show any facebook contacts on a people app. And linking between phonebook contacts and facebook is gone. I deleted all my accounts and add it again, but it didn´t help. Facebook newsfeed from notification menu is working.

Nyt on pakko vaihtaa kieli suomeksi kun ei tuo englanti taivu niin hyvin. Siis onko todella niin että viimeisimmän päivityksen jälkeen käsissäni on "älypuhelin" johon voin linkittää Facebook profiilin, jolla en oikeastaan tee juuri mitään. Kaikki avatarkuvat yms on siis historiaa? Eikä facebook viestit toimi? Nyt eikä vastaisuudessa? Valitettavasti vaikuttaa menevän kehitys taaksepäin. Alusta asti puhelinta käyttäneenä, tämä vaikuttaa valtavalta pettymykseltä.

So do I understand it correct that all your facebook contacts (which were linked to existing phone contatcs), including the facebook avatars, the facebook timeline picture and all the data extracted from facebook (e-mail, birthday etc) disappeared? 0.o

CardDAV doesn't work with posteo.de since the update. I tried to delete and recreate the account but that didn't help. CalDAV works without problems. Any ideas how to get it work or how to debug? Are there any logs somewhere?

Short update: I can see lines like "<syncresults majorcode="1" minorcode="401" scheduled="false" time="">" in/home/nemo/.cache/msyncd/sync/logs/carddav.Contacts-28.log.xml. If 401 is meant as an http error, it would mean "Unauthorized". I'm sure the username and password is correct (checked it 15+ times; additionally I tried it by browser, where the login was successful), but it's always the same error. Could that be a problem with the new libaccounts-qt version?</syncresults>

Can you do the following:

$ systemctl --user stop msyncd
$ killall msyncd
$ MSYNCD_LOGGING_LEVEL=8 devel-su -p msyncd

then in a different terminal:

$ devel-su journalctl -af | grep carddav

and send the logs after triggering sync to chris dot adams at jolla dot com please? Note: you may need to modify /etc/systemd/journald.conf set RateLimitBurst=3000 and RateLimitInterval=10s to avoid logs being truncated.

I was just about to write a bug report, but I wait now because I couldn't reproduce it today.

Can please someone confirm this for 1.1.4 / Äijänpäivänjärvi:

I was in the Gallery viewing photos. When I flipped the screen from either landscape or portrait it would move to the next picture (or previous, I didn't really notice), but at that time it was reproducible every time, after having transitioned to the other orientation it would have moved to the next picture.

Today I couldn't reproduce it (I have rebooted since) so I think I better put this up in this thread. If someone confirms it, please let me know so that we can file a bug.

@Larswad had that behaviour too but i can not reproduce it too. it was just one time i had that behaviour and at that time i didn't investigate further. it havent happened to me since. :/

There is some possibility then it might enter this state. I have been trying a few different things like deleting, taking pictures in camera etc. but no luck yet. Wonder what the trigger is then.

alex: yepp, there we have it. I must have been in camera when it happened. So then I'll just fulfill the already existing bug on the camera picture view, because it not only happens on videos but on pictures as well.

I have two CalDav accounts on Owncloud synced before. After the upgrade the accounts doubled (two of both Owncloud accounts) and not synced anymore. After deleting the twins and syncing there are still two entries of one Owncloud account at the pulley "manage calendars" - "Kalender Verwalten" in the calendar app (the second of the calendars I created on Owncloud). No way to remove this calendar anymore (though I did not try to delete the second account by now)

The account duplication issue is a new one - most likely due to a bug in our account migration scripts. I'll look into it. With regards to the "non-removable calendar entries" that one is a known issue which was fixed recently but the fix won't be in the Aiganpaivanjarvi update - see https://github.com/nemomobile/buteo-sync-plugin-caldav/commit/bdf47ded11672f604921c2cbfd88a4f72b66dfc6 for that one.

After the upgrade my CalDAV accounts on Davical reports "Not signed inn". Signing inn and entering the password again yields:

Oops, problem with account creation
The account could not be updated

Deleting and adding accounts is a functional workaround.

One unwanted sideeffect though, after deleting the non-working calendars they are still avaliable in the calendar.

Yahoo mail with IMAP does not update anymore automatically since 1.1.4, all other email accounts (supporting IDLE) work as expected.

During the night it updated once, so there might be something wrong with setting the update interval (it's on 15m).

2 of 3 IMAP accounts on my device do not sync automatically and I can't change update interval for any of these. But I'm still on 1.1.2.

I noticed that general email accounts' sync intervals cannot be changed anymore. There is still the dialogue, but the chosen interval just will not stick. Only after deleting and re-adding the account everything works out again.

I did not receive an MMS message send to me after I upgraded to this. I can’t be sure that this update is the problem though, because the last MMS I received was on January. I have checked that I have the correct MMS settings for my operator.

My phone just rebooted by itself and went into a boot loop once since the upgrade. I had to remove the battery to make it stop (I could not just turn it off with the power button). The phone had weak mobile internet connection before this happened, but only a few apps running.

blank screen after bank sms arrived were fixed in 1.1.4

EDIT: not completely fixed, while logging to bank and requesting auth code, first bank sms has blank screen notification like before or there is no notification at all - that is new.

app must be closed and sms has to be openned from simApp, doesnt matter if app is running or not,

second same auth sms is correctly displayed and phone is asking for mbank pin.

since update signal lost - mostly in car out of city, it looks like 4g->2g or reverse issue

the same in town where 3g failing (underground with 2g and lte)

perhaps just random, but phone has disabled mobile data and there is no way how to enable (reboot) and or no network coverage at all until reboot

confirmed on 2/3 devices (2 were updated)
