Problem with search in People

I have contacts in the form "PM1.121" in my People app. When I search for "121" with the builtin search function, it will not find anything. Changing that contact name into "PM1 121" (means replacing the dot with a blank), that contact is found. The search should be improved to find any strings I'm searching for.
