Tinder is not working. I installed current and older (3.2.1) version but neither works. I searched the forum about this and found that others have problems as well.

Details:

  1. I found an APK for Tinder, which installed on Jolla device
  2. It loaded when asked, took me through to sign in via Facebook or other options, I signed in with Facebook
  3. Then did I get an error because I didn't have Google Play installed on the device
  4. I installed Google Play Services and now it says "Use locations to allow search your location" and when i click "Settings" (other option is "cancel") - it says "This functionality is not supported" (in finnish).
  5. If i click over the dialog box it started to search nearby persons but nothing happens

Operating system: Sailfish OS 1.1.2.16

Please help, thanks!

Not much of a description @Reipasmies - I rarely use the Android side of Jolla phone, but I have it enabled for Teamviewer and Skype - both working reasonably well.

Tinder - I found an APK for Tinder, which installed on Jolla device, no problem, it loaded when asked, took me through to sign in via Facebook or other options, I signed in with Facebook and only then did I get an error because I didn't have Google Play installed on the device, which I won't be bothering with (more hassle than it's worth in my opinion). So, how far did you actually get, more info for us means we may be able to help you better..?

Markkyboy: I have done exactly same as you - then i installed Google Play Services and restarted Tinder but no help, there is an error message when application starts to search contacts nearby. Somebody said that older version could work but i got same error message as well.

@Reipasmies - okay, I understand. You should edit your original post, adding/editing in what you've just told me, making your question clearer to other readers; what the problem is, what you've tried, what version of Sailfish OS you are on and so on but indepth. The more info in the original question, the better - saves all this extra waffle in comments :)

I don't have a solution to your problem but I can offer a workaround:

Try meeting people at work, at school, at the theatre, at the museum, in the park, at the pub, in the shops. If you are interested, walk towards them. Walk away from them if you are not interested.

You can also find people on Social Media networks, but their approachability might be limited compared to in vivo.

I was expecting people to start proposing "faster" workarounds when i saw this question but that will do i believe :P ;D

Or you could just make use of your hands instead.

Heh, funny - except of course Tinder is quite an addictive "social game" that can also be used for dating purposes. Added fun when you stumble upon people you already know, or - especially - women you were interested in but didn't know if they were single or not (well, you still won't know for sure but...).

It is actually the only Android app I can think of having needed the Android compatibility for...

I had the exact same issue, but I figured it out. You need to open the native Maps app first and wait for a gps fix. Once "you're on the map" you should be able to start Tinder normally. It loads for a while, but should start working pretty soon. Hope this helps
