Hi,

I have trouble with my Jolla since yesterday. Suddenly many native won't start: Browser, Phone-app, Camera, ... When I touch on them the minimized app starting animation shows up and then it vanishes without opening the app. Reboot doesn't solve the problem. Now, I just wanted to start the e-mail app and my phone crashes completly wih flashing red LED. I updated to Äijänpäivänjärvi last week.

Does anyone has the same problem or a solution for me?

edit 13.5.2015 12:30 Some people gave me the hint that it might be a balancing problem (see comments). The command btrfs fi show shows the following result:

ERROR: unable get label Inappropriate ioctl for device
Label: 'sailfish' uuid: some number

Total devices 1FS bytes used 7.16GiB
devid 1 size 13.75GiB used 13.75GiB path /dev/mm...

As written in the comments I tried btrfs balance start -dusage=0 / (from 0 to 15) and /usr/sbin/btrfs-balance and get the following error:

ERROR: error during balancing '/' - Input/output error
There may be more info in syslog - try dmesg | tail
Btrfs balance failed while freeing 20% full block groups

When I type in btrfs fi show now I get:

ERROR: unable get label Inappropriate ioctl for device
Label: 'sailfish' uuid: some number

Total devices 1FS bytes used 4.48GiB
devid 1 size 13.75GiB used 9.60GiB path /dev/mm...

I think it looks better now. However the apps won't start. I use 5.1 GB. What can I do now?

I tried version --dup as posted by @Robomike. Something happend but the problem is still there (apps won't start). I also tried again to balance the filesystem. I faild at 11%:

 btrfs balance start -dusage=11 /
ERROR: error during balancing '/' - Input/output error
There may be more info in syslog - try dmesg | tail

dmesg says:

Your filesysttem probably needs balancing.

Thanks for the link but I'm sorry I don't understand what to do now. There is a only a "files involved:" and than comes the section "Applicable: SailfishOS 1.1.2.16 (Yliaavanlampi) or earlier".

After the filesystem is cleaned now, I would try to redo / recheck the upgrade with version --dup (as devel-su). See this thread also: https://together.jolla.com/question/91900/no-gui-after-114-update/

It's a really annoying problem because I can't make or accept a call. Should I send my phone to Jolla Care?

I'd suggest you get in touch with Care by email, point them to this thread, and ask how to proceed. I think it's care@jolla.com.

Good luck!

I had a similar problem today. Spontaneous reboots after starting any app or sometimes as early as when entering my phone's pin. I was extremely annoyed. First, I attributed the problem to the battery level, because on every other reboot there was a notification of a low battery (53% ... low??). I seem to have "fixed" my device by re-fitting the battery, the secure digital card and especially the SIM. Battery is now at 14% and my phone "behaved" since the re-fitting operation.

Thank you @Maus for your comment. I re-fitted the battery, the sd-card and the SIM. However no changes. But I think that we have (or had) different problems, because I don't have any spontaneous reboots. It's only that some apps won't start.

I finally solved the problem last weekend with the help of Jolla care.

I tried to do a "BTRFS recovery" in the Recovery Mode (point 5). However that didn't work. A full Device Reset in Recovery Mode solved the problem. After updating the system and backup recovery from SD card (!) everything is fine again.

Thanks a lot to Jolla care.
