How to get snapchat working? [not relevant]

I updated my snapchat a couple of weeks ago, and it worked fine before the update. Now it says that I need Google play services as before, but do not let me to use the software. And if I download those services it says that my phone isn't supported. So I tried to download an older version of snapchat and I was even able to see the login screen, but then it says that I'm using an old version of snapchat. So does anyone know how to get it working? Perhaps even older version? I've tried with 8.00

Don't forget to tell the snapchat-developers how you feel about the requirement to have google play services installed. As long as people play a good little puppy and roll over every time a company asks for yet another privacy-invading thing, which in the process shackles you to their golden cage, nothing changes.

Then again... since you're using snapchat anyway, you might not even care :(

I care and I was using snapchat only because so many of my friends is using it :D But I think that the company has no interests for little systems like Jolla, but still one can always complain!

Yeah, I'm in the same boat here. I've been trying for a workaround for weeks since I updated but to no success.

A couple months ago I had the same problem, here's how I fixed it:

  1. Remove your current Snapchat installation.
  2. Download Snapchat APK V4.X.X and install. This version doesn't even has the story feature.
  3. Launch Snapchat and login (you will be surprised how old Snapchat will look).
  4. Download Snapchat V8.0.0 and update your Snapchat installation.
  5. Launch Snapchat and enjoy.

-> Don't update your Snapchat anymore or you will be stuck again!

Thanks for advice! But unfortunately it seems that it won't work anymore... I tried to login and even sign up in apk v4, but it says that "this version is no longer supported". Damn :|

I would try out some other versions... I took myself more then 6 hours until I found a version that worked... V4.1.0.7 worked for me and I upgraded the package with V8.1.0

It's now officially over, it's now impossible to login in Snapchat. Our previous workaround, which I found on Crackberry have been deactivated by Snapchat.

Also removing the Google Play Services dependencies with Gmaps Patcher doesn't work. You can install the app, insert your credentials and press the login button. But you get a network timeout.

I hope somebody founds a solution, a third-party client is also possible with the risk that Snapchat locks your account...
