Change of the glass
Any experiences about DYI change of the front glass? The front-part (with digitizer) can be replaced separately?

Hi, Where could i buy a new screen glass. I ask that to repair a jolla phone with broken glass.
bye
Have you contacted Jolla support ?
I have done so, my Jolla's screen/glass was badly cracked. Jolla provided 2 alternatives, replacement of the screen or replace my device with a new one at a discount. I chose the second alternative, have sent my scarred face Jolla back, waiting for it to be delivered in Finland. (Hopefully today) On receipt of the "broken" device Jolla will provide me with the info on how to order the replacement phone.

This is because the digitiser has exposed traces going from the top to the sides ( below the black part of the glass). And those are really fragile. Soo if you are going to do it, be carefull. To remove the glass, you can use a razor blade, oil and a source of heat (in my case a soldering iron set to 220 C). Then carefully heat up every part (assuming it has cracked) of the glass, and slide the razor underneath. And lookup youtube videos on the topic.
If you have a spare digitiser, it is probably easier. But i don't where you would get one. And getting one from a donor phone is almost impossible. And the digitiser is glued to the lcd though, so it is still hard.
If you have the entire module (digitiser glass and screen), it should be quite straightforward.
First you need to get your hands on a replacement part. With such a marginal phone they're not available on eBay unlike for every other mobile device. My hunch is that only the official service has those, which makes DIY repairing of the screen either non-economic, if not impossible.

I dropped my Jolla and the screen broke, what now? [duplicate]
It surely can be, most smartphones can be disassembled if you have tools and hands ;-). At least I'd done it once with my old N9 and it still working (to some extent).
The question is where are you going to get that digitizer? Ebay & Aliexpress search gave me nothing. (I have a small crack in the upper right corner of the screen and was thinking how to solve the problem with my own hands).
rburkhanov ( 2015-05-21 23:24:58 +0200 )editI fear that the glass and digitizer are glued together :-/ Plus I really don't know where you would find those Jolla pieces (like rburkhanov wrote). I would ask Jolla Care... at least asking doesn't cost anything...
molan ( 2015-05-22 01:55:34 +0200 )editI really doubt it's glued together. Just look at it. I think I even read somewhere it's not glued there on purpose, the make it easier for a replacement. But don't take my word for it.
lispy ( 2015-05-22 09:33:14 +0200 )edit@lipsy: You're probably right (and for repair purposes I hope so). I can see a little shadow between glass and digitizer.
