After merge of the german providers (E-PLUS & O2) on 3G (UMTS) o2de+ it is very hard to get a connection. Every time i got a connectivity problem (!) - cell about 2 bars

I can confim this on 2 different Jollas anyone else?

I can't confirm this issue. For me everything works fine (default apn, "Netzwerk automatisch wählen", no roaming). I did have some problems with data connections a few weeks ago (?while o2 was working on the network?) but since O2 confirmed (about 4 weeks ago) that national roaming for my region (Niederrhein/Ruhr) was available everything works fine.
Maybe O2/E-Plus are still working on their networks in your region to support national roaming?!?

I don't have this issue. Works great here in Munich.

Have a look at the apn settings:

Go to Settings → System → Mobile Network → Mobile Data → tap and hold on the connection name → edit.

If your home network is o2 — Try changing the apn settings to "internet" as proposed in this answer. This worked for me (and some other folks, too).

If your home network is e-plus/base — Have a look at the apn settings and check if they are the same as the [manual config page of e-plus/base say. (Should both be the same, though.)

yes it may work on O2 side, but what to configure on e-plus side?

@evo3de Sorry, from your question it was not clear to me that you are on E-Plus/Base. I only read from people on o2 here in TJC having problems so I thought E-Plus users did not have any problems at all ;)

I'll update my answer in a second reflecting that and giving a hint to the correct e-plus/base settings.

@evo3de eplus does not have that roaming problem O2 has as you just use eplus+ from now on, you do not leave the network (roam networks) and use other settings but I recognized that when connected to actual o2 towers I have random connection issues too but usually toggling mdata once gives me a connection and roaming cell-towers does work too afaik, maybe call eplus and tell them about it (call 1000) as there is no other magic on Jolla side that I know of (as said before, eplus does not do traditional national roaming - the APN stays internet.eplus.de).

ok, not the roaming is the problem (not direct), but e-plus seems to be unstable in our region.

Let´s complain:

We have 2 Jolla with Base Sim´s, bouth with troubles connecting 3g @ base. I changed to O2 and see there is no problem anymore. Then they commited the national roaming and the troubles come back... Stangely the 2 Galaxys (parents in law) (bouth with Base) have no troubles at the same place. And this is the reason i decided to open this task.

wtf @evo3de are you talking eplus+ now or o2de+? from your starting question people understand that you have issues with eplus+, when you have issues with o2de+ you and especially jolla are not alone, quick google shows that many other manufacturers have the same issue as o2 was stupid enough to do national-roaming again like they did 10 years ago (and failed, o2de & o2de+), eplus does not do national roaming (just eplus+) - for o2 the solution seemed to be to change APN to internet - my experience with 3g since eplus+ is that I have a lot more 3g access in my area and the towers seem dodgy - I never moved to o2 as I knew about the dodgy infrastructure in my area, now with eplus+ I do not even have a choice as I don''t see eplus(without +) anymore - I so hope that they will use the eplus infrastructure team to look after everything, if not, I probably change providers when my contract runs out

chemist ( 2015-06-17 12:01:05 +0300 )edit

both but only problems with eplus towers and only 3g... At first i had a base sim -> problems - change provider (O2 (Sim.de Simcard) -> no problems @3g - then O2+ -> problems return by login to eplus tower

Sorry for my horroble english and any confussion, hard to explain

evo3de ( 2015-06-17 13:00:01 +0300 )edit

don't say eplus towers when you mean o2de+, the towers are probably just fine but the roaming is a fail - your Base problems been probably just general coverage issues as eplus never forced 3g development, eplus 3g is even in cities sometimes pretty bad, that is why I even then preferred EDGE most of the time - now with LTE I am pretty satisfied. I will update your question, and then close it as duplicate. https://together.jolla.com/question/93334/faulty-roaming-on-german-o2-de-and-o2-de-network/
