GTalk: Problem with connecting to...

Hello,
I searched the forum for the exact same message but found nothing so here goes:
Almost on a daily basis Jolla chat which is setup to my gmail talk comes with this message:
Problem with connecting to xxxxx@gmail.com. Check your connection and settings.
During that time all chats send to me are "lost" to Jolla so to speak. If I then simply send a message to anybody its does a: Connecting to xxxxx@gmail.com, its connects and sends it and from them on I am online again.
I can fully understand that connections are not up 100% of the day but why does it not try to reconnect every X time instead of simply giving up ?
It does seem (but I am not 100% sure) to happen more on Wifi then it does on 3G of 4G connections and there are times its fine for a week but then goed back to this message on a daily basis.
Is there anything I can check, a log or a settings as at times it can be a bit frustrating to have lost several messages (yes I know those do show up on gmail website)
