[1.1.6.27] problem with store - Can't update ...

Since a week I cannot update apps with the jolla stora anymore. I get 'Problem with Store - Can't update CuteSpot' for example.

This worked fine until something went wrong a week ago, and this is not related to the upgrade. I upgraded several apps successfully with 1.1.6.27.

I searched but couldn't find a post that matches this. A recovery is not an option.

Any help is welcome Ralf

Basic checks: (1) internet connection (2) active Jolla account, update credentials (3) enough of free space, both in storage and in the btrfs memory allocation space (4) reboot and try again

I'm in the same boat. Couldn't install Books or update Sailbox from Harbour. Can install MeeCalc and other apps. Did install Cepi's awesome FlowPlayer around the same time trouble started. Have tried all Simo's suggestions but btrfs, no fix. Maybe next update will sort it out.

Same thing is happening here. Unfortunately it's stopping me from installing the tohkbd ambience. Also happens with maze. Other apps install/upgrade fine.

Ran btrfs as suggested by Alex below, usage at 5, 10, 15 up to 100 then full balance. Result was 7.2Gb used of 13ish but still unable to install Books after reboot. Rem Jolla account, change p/w, and reinstall with no luck after reboot. Going to wait for the OS update.

I got exactly the same problem.

We had some data replication issues between Europe and Asia which caused problems for some of the devices/users. Could you check if the issue is now cleared and everything is working again?

Having the same problem, can't update or install apps from the Store. Just actually noticed this today. EDIT: Did a reset a few days ago and apps installed just fine.

raketti ( 2015-07-28 22:01:25 +0200 )edit

Same problem here. I also noted that I have to re-sign-in at Jolla, which I haven't done for a long time.

Groucho ( 2015-07-28 22:16:07 +0200 )edit

Seems issue still persists. Store not updating/installing apps, sfos update not downloading. Just gives "problem with store"

kimmoli ( 2015-07-28 22:31:01 +0200 )edit

I can install new apps (android or sailfish), but cannot update any existing apps nor re-install the app if an update for it exists in Jolla store. More info here - https://together.jolla.com/question/98778/11627-problem-with-store-cant-update/?answer=102910#post-id-102910 ...

I tried all checks as simo listed except the btrfs memory check. Here I am lost... Is this a menu option I can execute? Or do I have to enable developer mode, login into the device, and have to execute a command?

I also tried to create a backup just in case I have to reset the device. The backup just crashes as well.

My fear is that the coming update will fail as well

If you are looking for the btrfs issues this thread is the right one to link for: https://together.jolla.com/question/30822/root-and-home-disks-full-and-causing-various-problems/ .

Yes you do need to have developer mode activated to manually check the free btrfs space via terminal. But if you are unable to activate developer mode because of the missing space on your filesystem or if you just not familar with the terminal you should just clean up your Jolla's internal memory (you shouldn't have more than ~8 Gb stored on the internal memory) and connect your Jolla to the wall charger tonight (Tuesday morning) because your Jolla will clean up your btrfs filesystem automatically on each Tuesday at 3:00AM if you connected it to the charger and are at least on version 1.1.4.28.

Alex ( 2015-07-20 20:03:36 +0200 )edit

@ralfB@Alex Jolla will try to balance the file system, if charger is connected on Mon-Tue night, but it doesn't necessarily go through. Sometimes the manual way (link above) is the way to go.

One more thing is to make sure that the system upgrade to 1.1.6 was complete, see an answer here: https://together.jolla.com/question/97458/update-to-116-fails-update-app-does-not-launch/

simo ( 2015-07-20 20:54:34 +0200 )edit

Unfortunately, the balancing timer didn't fire last night. And, I can't enable developer mode. Bad.

There should be enough space on the internal memory, I deleted files with the file browser yesterday. I had 4 GB free space before deleting; now are 6 GB free memory available. I hope the comming update will fix this situation

ralfB ( 2015-07-21 21:45:00 +0200 )edit

Why can't you enable the developer mode? is there any error message when trying? Note that also this requires an active Jolla account and working internet connection on the phone. Also, how do you know the timer didn't fire?

simo ( 2015-07-22 01:04:55 +0200 )edit

@ralfB Your Jolla ran out of free btrfs space (this is the filesystem's space which is needed for allocating chunks). If you want to learn some more about it just follow the link I posted above. You won't be able to get this btrfs space back by just deleting stuff from your internal memory directly (but you have to have free space so that your filesystem has some space to 'breath'). So now you are unable to activate developer mode because your invisible filesystem space is full. This is a bad situation you are in and you should contact Jolla care for solving this issue because it's tricky without activated developer mode.

Alex ( 2015-07-22 02:23:42 +0200 )edit

Not sure if the issue is as @Alex points out, but if it is, you can check this answer which guides to activate the developer mode via the recovery menu: https://together.jolla.com/question/37694/developer-mode-not-loading/?answer=37894#post-id-37894 However, if there are any messages, please share those first before entering trying that

simo ( 2015-07-22 02:31:01 +0200 )edit

Thank you @simo and @Alex for your help. I appreciate your help really. It is nice to see how the Jolla community is helping. The message is simply: Problem with installing jolla-developer-mode

I have installed some terminal apps that allows me the enter commands. I couldn't find something useful in dmesg but I am not the expert, even I am software developer working on linux but not on the system level;-)

I already checked the jolla account and it should be ok. The same credentials are entered in my Jolla as when I login into my jolla web account. There is now 6GB free memory; I will check again the links you mentioned, hopefully this evening. It is hard to dig into this issue when I come home after a busy day pushing projects further. But I am linux fan, and of course a Jolla fan;-)

ralfB ( 2015-07-22 18:20:57 +0200 )edit

@ralfB That's great if you have a terminal app now. :) Then you just have to execute the command btrfs-balancer balance and your filesystem will do the balancing automatically.

Alex ( 2015-07-22 18:29:11 +0200 )edit

Thanks @Alex I got this: Command btrfs-balancer balance starting... D-Bus Error: Could not get owner of name 'org.nemomobile.BtrfsBalancer': no such name Program returned exit code 1

ralfB ( 2015-07-22 19:19:20 +0200 )edit

@Alex, does the command require sudo rights? . If yes, then I can't define the password without developer mode activated, I assume

ralfB ( 2015-07-22 19:23:05 +0200 )edit

@ralfB What terminal apps have you installed? As what user are you entering commends? Could you post the output of pkcon install jolla-developer-mode ?

Following on from https://together.jolla.com/question/102389/11724-cant-install-updates-or-new-apps-from-jolla-store/ This question has a higher vote so I''ll draw attention to this question as both seam to me to be the same issue.

A day or so before early release 1.1.7.24 I tried to update a package from the store. This failed, and I didn't notice straight away, as I went to sleep leaving it to update. Anyway early release is released, I upgraded successfully after freeing some space for the BTRFS balance to run. No errors reported and device appears to be updated correctly. Update app from store. Once again error problem with store.

Error on trying either to Install or Upgrade an APP from the store. Things I have Noted so far

  • I can successfully install an Android app from Jolla Store. (Only native apps fail)
  • I can install and upgrade packages from openrepos
  • I can remove an app from the store.
  • Tried using zypper from command line to update package which returns "file not found on medium"
  • ssu domain returns "Device domain is currently: sales"
  • ssu release returns "Device release is currently: 1.1.7.24"
  • version --dup errors out repeatedly with "Error: File './rpms/sailfish-utilities-all-translations-pack-0.0.34-10.13.1.jolla.noarch.rpm' not found on medium 'https://store-repository.jolla.com/SbJ/armv7hl/?version=1.1.7.24&credentials=store'"
  • pkcon refresh successfull
  • pkcon update same error as version --dup
  • pkcon download will download the version that is currently installed. errors with "not found on medium" as above on the newest version
  • removing and re-adding Jolla account credentials makes no difference

It appears to me that some how my account on the store is not getting the lates rpms available, that somehow when the custom repo that is created for my account is not linking the rpms.

Anyway I hope this can help narrow down the issue, As I can no longer add apps from Jolla's store or update apps.

I was suffering from exactly the same problem (I created the question you linked to) - but I just tried installing 1.1.7.25 again (this was also failing in a similar way when I tried earlier) and it worked - along with app updates and new installations. If it was a server issue, maybe you'll have some success if you try again now?

@mattaustin I have successfully update to 1.1.7.25 and like you all is good. As reported in both of these questions it appears the Asian repo mirror wasn't syncing. obviously it stopped those that get their repo feed from Asia.

Once again I'm happily enjoying my Jolla.

I run btrfs-balancer balance, but this didnt fix any problem with store.

Update: Issue is fixed for me - as clarified it was a server side issue.

I am on 1.1.6.27 and I am suddenly facing this same issue - can't update existing apps nor install new ones.

Is this a server side issue? Please advise.

More info:

I did btrfs balancing, after deleting a lot of video and photos, as my phone memory had crossed 7+ GB.

  1. The Jolla Store loads successfully without any error.
  2. I can install new Sailfish or Android apps without issue.
  3. I can delete any installed app.
  4. I can re-install any existing app IF it doesn't have an update in Jolla Store.
  5. I cannot update any existing apps from the Jolla store.
  6. I cannot re-install any app if it has an update in Jolla Store.

The issue still persists - I can't update any installed apps nor re-install them if the app has an update in the Jolla store.

After trying all the suggested checks, still did not find a fix.

As a work around that worked for me,

From the CLI:

pkcon search name 'package'

This will return the full package name and version.

pkcon download 'directory' 'package-name'

This will offer you a number of different releases of the package to download. Choose the second latest release.

pkcon install-local 'package-name+version'.rpm

You will have a working package and the store will offer you an update but it will fail if you try to update it.

Got the 1.1.7.25 update this morning, while that didn't take, even after a reboot, it stalled. While at work it was still trying to update but when I got home it had automagically installed and updates are working fine again.
