Skype won't start if "allow app background services to start on bootup" checkbox is off. To be more precise, it starts but automatically closes after milliseconds. I've checked couple of other androide apps, they were fine

Ps also i;ve noticed, that when that checkbox was off, the skype process started anyway after reboot

What Skype version are you using? I have 5.4.0.4241/429 and I starts even if the option is not checked.

My Skype 5.5.0.11658 icon still grey in Settings --- Apps, so I can not enable start it on boot and I do not see it in procs list. Whatsapp I can manage as expected. I did not allow start it, but the procs is in the list afrter reboot.

If you leave Skype open for some time, it will crash also and will only restart after a stop/start from the android support. Skype version 5.4.0.5871 from aptoide

well it seems that the problem for me was with disallowing android apps to access my contacts =( when this checkbox is on, then skype starts ok.

That is exactly what a lot of people don't want.

@Maximilian1st that's what i did first thing=) turned off access to contacts

it's a pitty that we didn't get that function "per-app" as with "running in background"

It would be nice to have a fake contact folder where you could add two or three contacts at your wish and Android could only access these. It could be integrated in the phonebook, where you could tick a box for each and every contact "share with Android"

@Maximilian1st I think groups would work well with that purpose. Contacts belonging to certain group would be visible for Android apps. But fist groups for contacts must be implemented. Vote here!
