Maybe someone can help me here. I tried to start the update process for 1.1.7. Got the message that the system needs to be prepared and then the error that my space is too low. So I thought about deleting something and meanwhile Lipstick crashed.

Now I get the message in Patchmanager that I should run "zypper in -f lipstick-jolla-home-qt5" to reinstall lipstick because the backup is broken (why, I don't know), but when I try to install zypper via "pkcon install zypper" nothing happens I see the message role now resolver and then ...nothing...

I think it should not take longer than 5 mins to download and install but now the phone is in this state for 40 mins already.

What else can I do ?

I also get now constantly the message Problem with App Registry. fixing it the usual way with the Jolla utilities doesn't help after couple of minutes it appears again.

Restarting the phone worked now several times without bricking it but patches I can't disable anymore.

I start to think that I might be stuck in an endless loop of broken lipstick missing Zypper and App-Registry problem

ok now the troubles start: All accounts saved on the phone are not working anymore Email app is empty no account connected, but in the settings/accounts I can see my mail-accounts perfectly. Jolla account also doesn't seem to work correctly. If I try to refresh the account details I get the message that the file cannot be saved...

I really don't know what's going on here...

I tried to start the update process for 1.1.7. Got the message that the system needs to be prepared and then the error that my space is too low.

I got the same message yesterday. I had about 6.5 GB free even though the update said only 1.5 GB was needed. After rebooting the phone, it installed without issue

Maybe Jolla should suggest doing a reboot before the install. Mine had been running for several weeks without a reboot. It didn't have much usage either though. With the dismal Jolla PIM apps I still have to use my N9 as my work horse.

If you can still access the phone via USB, move some heavy things (photos, music, etc) elsewhere and do again a btrfs balance (keep your charger connected):

devel-su
btrfs balance start /

Then use Sailfish Utilities to fix the App Registry problem.

To reinstall lipstick-jolla-home-qt5, you can directly use pkcon:

ssu re 1.1.6.27
ssu ur
pkcon refresh
pkcon install lipstick-jolla-home-qt5

(Assuming that you are running 1.1.6.27 now: the first three lines ensure that you'll download the package for your current version)

Then re-try the update.

Good luck!

Thanks for the answers and the help. Actually what you suggested was what I ended up trying, unfortunately more and more Sailfish functionalities died yesterday. I was strange to see that I could barely open any more apps.

pkcon refresh and all similar terminal based activities could not be performed I just got messages like deamon crashed while the action was performed or no such package found when I tried to reinstall lipstick.

In the end I couldn't even create a backup from the settings page it was constantly crashing. App store/app registry error messages kept popping up every 5 minutes.

Internet connectivity was becoming unrealiable/instable. Andoid apps could not be startet.

I retarted the phone around 20 times but that seemed to make it even worse. Sometimes it took minutes till basic functionalities were available again. For example: I wrote that my emails are not there altough the acounts were still configured correctly. 20 minutes later the emails were working again but clicking on a bigger mail made the client crash !??.

So I made the final decision: factory reset....which was not working either ! I needed to restart the phone 2 more times before the reset actually started. I really wonder what was going on yesterday. To tell the truth it almost felt like a virus behaviour. Very strange.

After the reset I then made directly all updates and now the phone is back to live! :-)

Just two problems are left:

1) I saved the contacts.db in hope that I can simply copy it back and overwrite the empty one, does anybody know if this is possible?

2) Setting up email as imap I am missing the always up to date option, after configuring my email manually, any ideas what went wrong I know this behaviour happens when you change the settings from pop3 to imap but with a freshly configured imap I didn't see it.

Update: 1) I will ask this in a seperate question.

2) the switch to the always up to date setting can be done AFTER the account set up is finished. You have to go back to the settings for the account and then you can select it. Didn't see this before I thought you can do it directly with all other details at once.

I close this thread since the solution was resetting the phone.
