If you change the ambience from the standard freedom ambiance to any other ambience (like work, slient, etc) all sounds like incoming call, email notification, etc are set to no sound. I think that is not the idea of how it should work.

In principle it's exactly how it should work. The ambience is called 'silence' for a reason. Sound settings can be tied to an ambience. Maybe you toyed with the settings of other ambiences? 'work' is set to 80% volume on my phone.

Mmm ... but if I create an ambience myself (picking photo), sound gets mute. And all sounds settings are set to no sound. They other ambience you're right, silent get silent, work get 80%. Think I look first at the option creating an ambience myself.

Ambiences don't override system-wide sound settings unless you tell them to. Maybe your ringtone volume is set to zero and only the freedom ambience overrides it?
