In the Media app, some albums are still listed, even though they are no longer on the device. If I click on one of these albums they are simply empty.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Put a bad album on the device (or in my case, the SD card)
  2. Have tracker index it
  3. Check media app: go to artists, tap the artist, album is there
  4. Realize you don't like the music on that album, so delete it (over SSH or just plug the SD card in a computer)
  5. Go back to music app, go to artists, tap the artist, abum is still there

NOTES:

  • I could only reproduce this if there remains at least some other music on the device by the artist whose album we just deleted
  • Reboot or restarting the media app doesn't help
  • Going wild on the terminal, tracker-control -rs gets rid of the bad album
  • I'm doing this on 1.0.2.5

Maybe there should be a "rebuild the database" option or it could be automatic.

Will they get hidden after a while? Will it go away after a tracker-control -rs and media player restart?

@Aard I haven't dared try to mess with tracker yet. I did that once on Harmattan and lost all my contacts as a result.

@Venemo We're only storing metadata about content on your device inside the tracker database (or, in other words, only information that can be gathered again be rebuilding the tracker database). So unlike on Harmattan messing with tracker is risk free, apart from having to wait for reindexing to finish.

Okay @Aard I'll try tracker-control -rs and see what happens.

So to answer your questions:
1. Restarting the media app doesn't cure the issue, nor rebooting
2. tracker-control -rs indeed helps

NOTE: while I was messing with the media player I also found another bug: https://together.jolla.com/question/12363/bug-cant-delete-two-playlists-simultaneously-in-media-app/

I also edited my original post and added the details.
