I want to stop getting a notification sound and/or vibration for every new email. In some periods of the day I get emails every couple of minutes and it's getting absurd hearing a sound or buzz for those. Preferably I'd want the behavior of SfOS 1 where one got a sound and/or vibration when first new unread email was received. I don't want to have to make an ambiance to silence email notifications altogether. It's not possible to make an ambiance control the vibration, thus it will always vibrate and/or make a sound (since I want vibration if silent) for new e-mails.

A configuration setting would be the best, but I want the default to change because it's driving me insane.

Edit: it applies to nights as well. One can configure a peak interval, but since that setting is really granular it's not possible to set different times for weekdays or weekends, and one has to set it to "never" update during night (off peak) if you don't want any notifications at all, but "off peak" time is depending on day.

And, no, I can't shut off the phone, since some nights I'm on call. Currently my only options as far as I know, if I want a good night's sleep, are to downgrade to 1.x or get another phone.

Just go to the Settings - System - Ambiences, tap your ambience, where you want to turn email notifications off, and then tap a x sign near email notification. No more sound for them now.

@Mohjive Sorry, missed that. But why? If any system sound disturbs me I see no problem to switch it off with an ambience. And turn it on with another ambience when I really need that sound. And It also would be easy to see anytime what kind of notifications (silent/sound) is on.

@Mohjive, why not configure e-mail accounts for peak and off-peak operation. You could define as off-peak the period you don't want e-mail notifications and set the check interval to 'twice a day'. This way you won't be bothered by e-mail tones. Still you could manually check new mails when needed. I guess, the constant wave of e-mail tones is annoying you, because you don't want to read them as soon as they arrive.

LVPVS over.

The problem is during day, when I want emails up to date all the time. I don't want to manually check mails all the time and the Jolla led is a good notification that I have something new in my inbox. And I don't see the logic to force my Jolla to check more seldom just to not have notifications all the time, even though I do understand that it is a viable workaround.

@rburkhanov: another issue I found now, when playing with ambiances, is that I can disable sound notifications in any ambiance, but as I want the phone to be silent but vibrate in some cases I can't make it stop vibrate juat for emails alone. So it will keep buzzing as long as vibratuon is on, no matter what notification sound I set.
