[Feature-request] Maps.me goes open source, possible Sailfish porting?

Maps.me goes open source, could this be an alternative to get offline navigation in a native Sailfish app? The service is based on Qt5, could porting be easily done?
MAPS.ME’s code will also be available under the Apache 2.0 license, which means free usage for users, even when being used for commercial purposes.
This news has been tucked into comments here on TJC but I wanted to bring it up to start some discussion regarding feasibility etc.
Summary of Maps.me:
- open source (Apache 2)
- maps from OpenStreetMap (OSM)
- offline availibility
- turn-by-turn navigation
- written in Qt5/C++
The android version of Maps.me can be downloaded directly as an .apk package.
Would be a great (open source) replacement for the HERE app (as default map app ;)

My requirements:
Atm I'm using Osmand (bought the android version) but I'd appreciate if there would be a native app as I never was satisfied with the Jollas default maps application.
mdosch ( 2015-10-08 13:29:09 +0300 )editThis is interesting... from discussion in TMO, it should be possible to make Sailfish adaptation without rewriting everything, so it might be a viable option to replace current default maps-application with more featured and open source one. For sailors, please at least take a look into it as the offline turn-by-turn navigation app is one of the most needed and requested features!

Bit I personally am extremely satisfied with Openstreetmap -if this can be run in Maps.me I second the idea. Other than this, we also have Openstreetmaps on the android app Osmand, which is definitely complete (e. g. multilingual guidance etc.), so potentially, porting the (open source) Osmand app to Jolla may also be a very efficient option...
